Xbox 360 Red ring of death

Don't know if any of you guys who have 360's have experienced this but how annoying?

If you have and, like me, your xbox is no longer under warranty so microsoft wont repair it for you let me know, as i have a fairly permanent fix for it. I have jus repaired to 360's at my house and they seem to be working as good as new.

Just glad to have mine back up and running now..... means i have something to do when the weathers sh** and cant get out bocking!

Also i know that gamertags have been posted in another thread however whilst on topic, i have re-set up my live account and my gamertag is Stescarr, so feel free to add me!

yeah my xbox croaked a while back and it took them 2 monthes to get it back to me. Add me if you want, GT is Alcevist Zan

If its "The Towel Trick" you can find about a bazillion "How To's" on YouTube.

That said, I've got half a mind to buy a RROD machine and fix it by going to the root of the problem, this being the overheating processors due to the use of low-quality thermal grease.

If it works, I've just saved a few hundred quid, if not then I've lost maybe £30/40. Worth a shot!

well ive seen things like, it gets so hot the motherboard flexes and all the connections get undone, causing RROD

Na the towel trick is nay good only works for about 20mins, and it also voids your warranty if you do it a few times as microsoft can tell that the motherboard has been intentionally, which is what happened to mine sprog.

I know my mate "fixed" his, after buying a new one   So he then sold it to someone else and it has worked perfectly since.  Not entirely sure what he did though

Probably very similar to what i did MCTom, took it apart replaced the clamps 4 the heatsinks, and replaced the thermal grease, and now all is good.

Yeah RROD is a big annoyance.  but unfortunatly it happens. ive not had it yet  'fingers crosses'  im on my second xbox at the minute as i got banned from xbox live on the first one.  i was on xbox live for a year and a half with a modded console , playing backups. and they finally caught me . now i'm all legit on my second box.

Yeah RROD is a big annoyance.  but unfortunatly it happens. ive not had it yet  'fingers crosses'  im on my second xbox at the minute as i got banned from xbox live on the first one.  i was on xbox live for a year and a half with a modded console , playing backups. and they finally caught me . now i'm all legit on my second box.
