I personally prefer the road, superb wide open space.

SAND! thats funny, I've done it and its a very odd experience, as are pebble beaches. not the best stuff to practice on but worth a go if you have a death wish.

Wide open concrete is best, better yet find a multi-leveled area of concrete like a bandstand or area with giant concrete steps. more fun than you can shake a stick at!

Mamzar Park in Dubai includes a huge amphitheatre. Lots of wide steps.

I find steps oddly tricky, especially ascending. The flexibility in the springs means that it's necessary to raise my feet higher than I'd normally expect. It's a bundle of laughs once mastered though. I need to remember to take my Stick of Shaking next time.

Wahey! I've now tried SAND.

I thought I'd sink in, but the tiny foot pads (is it in order to call them 'hooves'?) seem to compact the sand so they only sink in a couple of inches. Assuming that I remember to lift my feet to compensate, progress over really quite soft sand is easy.

It leaves the weirdest footprints.

I'm off for a run on the beach...

Very soft sand, I have recently discovered, is a lot of hard work, with very high knee-lifts needed to prevent tripping up. Jumping is nigh on impossible because the  s stick into the sand like, er, sticks.

Wet sand is appalling for  ing. The pressure of my lardy body is enough to bring the water to the surface and suck the 'hooves' into the mire.

Wah, splat.

At least sand is softer than concrete.

( Note: need gaps both sides of the  emoticon...)

Smooth blacktop is by far the easiest thing to bounce on IMO.

Provides the smoothest surface to run on, and the least road-rash if you fall.

That's a bit rude. The people ask because they are interested, there's no need to go "leave me alone". You're bound to get interest from them, maybe someone may buy them and want to powerise with you, then realise how rude you were and decide not to.

I prefer to go on the road, smooth tarmac is really good for running on. The pavement has the advantage that you can jump off the curb onto the road to get a bit more height on your bounces though!
