Hey I don't know if this is my email program's fault but when I get a notification in my email about a new post on a topic.  There's 2 links one is "View the reply at" bla bla bla  and the other is to Unsubscribe. The Unsubscribe is an click able link but the one to read the reply is not click able.  So that means it takes 3 more steps(highlight, copy, open browser, open tab, paste, enter, wait) to look at the post instead of one easy simple relaxing click.

Maybe it's a hotmail thing?  It's also un click able through the web interface.

Maybe it's a PoweriserPages thing?
Yeah I get that as well  Smiley

I think you might want to promote the idea of joining the website alittle more. Have a small square of home ( for guests ) that says you should join Poweriserpages ECT.. I seam to see alot of guests so I just think that most of them should join.

Thanks to everyone for their responses!

I have posted some of the ideas as topics in this board. From now on, instead of responding to this thread with ideas- I'd appreciate it if you could post them as new topics. Thanks!

A couple of notes to Pendragon-

1. The search function
- I think the problem you were having with search is that if you are within a certain board at the time you make the search, then the results you get will be limited to that board. I've found this a bit rubbishy behaviour actually, so I found the bit of code that does this limiting and commented it out. Now searches aren't limited according to where you are.

2. Notification email problem, with the second link not working.
- Checking my recent notification emails, the links seem to all work. This makes me feel it is a problem with how Hotmail is rendering the emails.

Thanks again to all,

Matt

Is there anyway you could include a spell checker, so people can check for any mistakes before posting?

I know that Firefox has an built in spell checker but I'm thinking about other browsers.

there used to be a spell checker, but it went away when we upgraded to the current version of smf.  So it should be available for this version.
Really though everyone should just get firefox, make a spell check button that brings you to the download firefox page.

Haha that's a funny idea!

I'll look into spell checking plugins now.

Spell check?  Are you joking?  The way people write in this forum a spell checker wouldn't help one bit.  In order for a spell checker to work, it has to at least be able to guess what word you are using.  Seriously, there are times I can't even understand a SENTENCE that is written.   Huh

Agreed, it seems a lot of the time people are drunk whilst posting or simply didn't go to school. But spellcheck will probably help quite a bit, even if people choose to ignore it. Plus it means ET and myself can resume our role of the spelling police Grin

Exploding noobs... Or us exploding at them for refusing to look in the knowledge section/use the search function? Cheesy

Oooo, i thought of something else.

Would it be possible to make it so that everyone has to put their location in their profile?

This would make it easier to know where everyone is and therefore not having to ask.
