Went out yesterday to take advantage of the good weather.
Was quite pleased with myself.
Practiced some tricks holding the fence, and then went onto a grassy area to try them out for real.
Did some small 180's, and small split kicks. I really enjoyed getting both legs up behind me and grabbing at my feet. Kinda like a backside air.
After making some progress, i eventually lost my balance and went down for my second time. (you saw my first down on the vid the wife took).  Grin Unfortunately i had no camera team with me yesterday.
It was not a hard slam by any stretch of the imagination, just another backwards fall onto grass. Put my hands back and spread my fingers ready for impact........

Anyway, this is how my finger looks today.

This is a photoshopped version of how it looked at the time.  Shocked Luckily it popped back into position easily, as i pushed myself back up to my feet.

It did not hurt much, but it throbs a bit now it has swollen.
I think next time i fall backwards, i will try and remember to clench my fists, and keep my digits out the way.

I would suggest just messing aorund on them for a while before you try and do tricks...  Gotta walk before you can run, gotta run before you can stunt.

edit:Hey, 300th post... neat or something...

Wrist guards only really save your wrists Jodz, your fingers and thumbs (as locky knows) have little or no protection when you fall on them.

Hey guys,
Thanx for the kind words and good wishes.

I was wearing all my pads and helmet at the time, as i always do. I have to set an example to my young un's, and it make me feel better.

I only posted as i thought this may be a common injury (due to lack of protection), and to highlight that a relaxed fist may be the safer way to go down?? Any thoughts or experience on this?

I get what you are saying Mr Frank, but i gotta try and progress at some point. I am quite comfortable on the bocks at the mo, and happy to try new things.
It was a nothing fall really, not from any great height, and not from doing anything spectacular, but the consequences were more than expected.
