Okay, it seems we have a bunch of newbies getting their bocks soon and all are just out of their minds in anticipation of receiving them in the mail.  So I thought it a good time to again issue this warning:

When you take your brand new bocks out of the box and you finish weeping in happiness, DO NOT TRY TO FLEX THE SPRING BY PUSHING DOWN ON THE KNEE BAR!  You won't flex the spring much, but you do risk bending the knee tubing.

Seems everybody tries it.

I always tell people not to do this to mine. Bugs me how people do this.

What happened that brought this up? Hopefully nothing bad.

Thank you for mentioning this Bill. I would not have known otherwise. I don't think I would have tried flexing the spring by the knee bar anyways, but it is good to know that I should steer clear of it especially. first thing I'm gonna do is add a knee strap mod, get on them, and try to walk.

Thanks for the heads up.

New Bocks should have a sticker of the hoop saying " NO STEP ".

Well maybe not that but why not a sticker telling people not to use to flex spring !
I know it say that in the manual but who reads that before they test their springs !?

I have been doing that regularly. So far, the knee bar tubing has not been affected.
Are you sure that this is really a problem Bill, or does it take much more than a prod to cause any damage?

Naaah....  Just noticed a lot of new people saying they were ordering or planning to order lately.  Figured it was a good time to warn against this practice again.  Apparently some models now mention not to do this in the instructions.

I have been doing that regularly. So far, the knee bar tubing has not been affected.

Depends on the brand.  Some seem to be more easily bent than others, but there have been instances in the past where one knee loop angle has been bent downward more than the other as a result.  Not a good practice.  Why do you do that regularly??

...my pro-jump bars have bent slightly just from hooking the hooves through the bars to carry them as one thing...they use to be at 90 degrees, now have a slightly downwards look like most others, i spose the only problem it could cause would be limiting how far you can bend your knee, as the metal at the back would need to be higher to be comfortable...anyone know better ways of carrying them that won't affect the bar in any way?

Well thanks for telling me even if they mine dont bend I still dont want the chance of them bending and having to buy some new knee bars possibly. I better tell my friends not to do it, they seem to like to do it. I have had mine for a little while so I dont do it atleast.

I checked my kneebars today and found that in relation to the vertical support beam, one of the kneebars was skew, not parallel. I then tried to pull up on it and it creaked and clicked into place. I'm mad my friends did this.

Even if they don't bend, you could be seriously messing up the kneebar holders by pushing down on the kneebar.

Why do you do that regularly??

To show people how the springs flex when they ask questions like "What's that, what does it do?".

It actually says in the poweriSer (and maybe 7League) manuals not to do this.
