I'm new here (hello!) but I've been reading the forums for awhile.
You see, a couple years ago I remember seeing these on TV but I never knew what they were called but I thought they were so badass. So I was on a quest to find these for awhile, then awhile back I discovered them and I was the happiest person ever. o: These things are the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I want a pair.

SO... I have a question... I'm looking to get some Powerisers (The advanced ones) but not too sure which weight range to get...
At the moment I fluctuate between 125-130 lbs BUT... I have hardly any muscles at the moment (lol).
So, I imagine (I think) when I get them and use them, I will gain weight, which would be muscle weight. Not sure how much though...
Would getting the 7090 ones be too much? Would they be too hard to jump with? Because the main site (poweriser.com) says those are for 166 - 198 lbs.

So, I read the sticky and I'm stuck between these two:
Poweriser                   PR5070          50kg-70kg          40kg-60kg
                             (adult Frame)    110lbs-154lbs     88lbs-132lbs

Poweriser                  PR7090          70kg-90kg          60kg-80kg
                             (adult Frame)   154lbs-198lbs     132lbs-176lbs

I want best bounce... So, should I pick the one with my weight at the bottom of the range, or the higher point range (See red text)? I don't want to "bottom out" too fast, but I don't want it to be too hard to break in, or bounce.

I don't want to get the wrong ones so I'm really looking for some help. It'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.  Smiley

erm to be honest i cant give you a totally accurate point of view but it all depends on how much more weight you think your gonna increase by, i know a member on the forums called Athoul has a pair of T-Rex 7 leagues and he only weighs 65kg but can bottom them out, personally id proberly go for the PR-7090 if your deffeniatly going to put some weight on because if u have the technique i dont see why it should be a big problem, i bought the PR-5070 when i was only 7 stone and could bounce on them pretty well even tho i was under weight.

hope this helps a little, and if i am wrong about anything above am sorry Smiley

7090's.  Most common purchased weight range.

at first you'll loose weight.  Alot of learning to use these is in timing and how to efficiently move what you have thru the spring further compressing it.  Muscle you gain will not be in large muscles that will sigificantly add weight to you.

Another words.... you'll get lean and mean LOL

One big question will help us here are you very active in sports, such as skating or any school sports that require leg strength, or even tried a trampoline before or dive off diving boards as if yes to any of these, as I am from a skating and skateboarding background and I weigh only 97 pounds so I had no choice but to go with the 50-70's.

I can do well with walking and running but when jumping I do not get a lot of "AIR" but I still need to improve in my technique and gain more endurance plus a little more weight would help me a lot, but I am stuck skinny it seems,

I would say most likely the 50-70's are best if you are not in any sports yet, but if sports are in your past especially from anything like ski skate or any strong leg needed ones then for sure go with the 70-90's as you will have the power to do well I am sure.

He/she is well towards the top end of the 5070 weight range so he needs 7090's.
As for the V2 Stiltwerks, there is no info available on these, no prices, and no date given for their release.
Even YOU haven't tried them yet Henry. Waiting for those would be pointless at this stage. If they really
are as good as you are trying to make us believe, and they are affordable, people can always upgrade to
them if they so desire.

There's another thing to consider Henry. Remember these things are covered by a patent so they are
likely only going to be available to US residents. The SpeedJumpers are only available to Germans due
to the patent. Of course Jay can purchase licenses to sell in other countries but they are very costly and
he needs to be sure the demand will exist. Not an easy task when you consider that promotion in other
countries will be entirely dependent on his own publicity efforts or those of his eventual distributors.

And as Beckaroo has not stated which country he/she is in, aren't you jumping the gun a bit?

I dont need to try them to tell you they are better then any other low cost stilts. I was just trying to help the person save money and get a great pair of stilts. I understand they arent out yet and it could be a month or so til, just thought I would help. Sorry for trying to help on the forum, it always becomes someone trying to call people out.  Beckaroo all stilts are fun tho, with those I would say go with the strongest weight class you can get, they will break down quick and you will love them.

I'm not trying to call you out Henry and I fully appreciate your enthusiasm for the brand. After all, you use the real thing so you know exactly what Jay is capable of producing. I simply don't believe that anyone should wait at this stage as the month or so you speak of may be far from the reality. Figure that if a prototype were ready, you would surely have been asked to test it, and that hasn't even happened yet. Therefore what is the likelihood that the full production run will be made before prototype testing has been done?

Take FL's new CZ range as a prime example. That has been in both protoype and production stage for almost a year and yet it still isn't available to the general public.

Another thing that concerns me is you say you were trying to save him/her (don't yet know which sex Beckaroo is) money. Looking at this logically, who has the lowest production costs ...the Americans or the Koreans? Well, in 2007 when the first Poweriser Advanced's were released it was a darned good product but people found it to be too expensive compared with its Chinese counterparts. At the beginning of 2009 the price was reduced dramatically in order to compete. While this move has been successful, the product quality dropped significantly too, presumably because the price drop meant that they were forced to use cheaper materials. Now, if Velocity, with their higher manufacturing costs, can produce a pair of stilts that costs less than a pair of Powerisers, I have to wonder how and whether they really will be as superior as you believe? Only time will tell...

Anyway Henry, as soon as you do have photos, prices, a launch date, and your personal experience on them, PLEASE DO post all you have got because I for one, certainly want to hear all about them.

I'll agree that suggesting a model that doesn't exist yet is a bad move.  And the "V2 Jumping Stilt" certainly doesn't, unless the Stiltwerks website is in sore need of an update.  No pictures, no description, no nothing.

Back to answering the question at hand, I would go with the 7090s over 5070s.  They were my first springs, and although they were tough to master, 5070s would probably leave you wanting after a bit.  Especially if the springs have improved at all since my last pair, and I'm certain they have.  No matter what though, they will kick your ass to start with.  It'll take a while to develop the fitness you need to use them for longer periods of time.

And if you're going to wait for something, I'd suggest waiting for the whole deal with the CZ models to pan out.  Could be a very good innovation, and if it isn't, then you'll know a good deal more about these things when you do buy.  Either way though, Powerisers will serve you well.

Thank you for your replies.
To clarify... I'm a female living in the United States. I am currently NOT active in any sports and haven't been for awhile... That's why I said I hardly have any muscles in my original post, haha. So, I'm pretty weak, which is also why I was asking if the 7090's would be too much. Would it be really stiff with hardly any bounce at first? I know either way I'm going to be extremely sore after using these.

Also, I would be willing to wait for the new ones to come out, but I won't get them right away. Only if they get good reviews.

My opinion holds less weight than the more experienced bockers that have posted before me, but:

I'm 62Kg (~136lbs), female and using 7090's. Moderately active, mainly from work, but no regular sport for a while. The 70-90's are hard work but not too stiff to compress, even with far from perfect technique. I've never tried 5070's but if you're willing to tough it out for a bit I'd say go for the 7090's.

Well I'm now going to throw a spanner in the works. Bearing in mind what you have said
about lack of muscles Becky, I would not purchase Powerisers because their springs are
habitually stiff. Powerstrider or AirTrekkers are much easier to use because their springs
are more forgiving. In fact, when the Czech's ran a test between Poweriser, Powerstrider,
and 7 Leagueboot, the Powerstrider was rated more user friendly than the Poweriser by
all the beginners.

The 7 Leagueboot won outright on almost every level but those are only available to you
if you import them and your nearest distributor is in Canada.

Where the Poweriser scores over the Powerstrider is that you can jump a few inches higher
but the Powerstrider will still achieve 6 ft which is probably more than enough for you.

As you claim to not be in a rush, the new CZ range of Powerstriders may be released soon.
These are much lighter and have improved spring dynamics which translates into easier to
use and much higher jumps. The only problem with them so far is that their track record is
rather questionable which is why they have not yet been publicly released. Some people
are unscrupulously selling them online already however, these are models that should have
been recalled as they have known faults.

My final advice would be as follows:
- if you can afford them, import a pair of 7 Leagueboot T-REX (70-90 kg). Their springs are
by far the best available without wandering into professional territory. Their construction
is also superior.
- if you are on a tighter budget, take a look at what Powerstrider/AirTrekker have on offer.
Both those brands are made by the same factory and are identical so the only things that
will matter to you are that you need an M80 and you will have to decide whether you want
the classic version with the knee bar or the Evolution version with the calf-cuff.

Just to add one more detail that will help her too if her legs are anything like me thin/skinny then the Calf cuff would be the way to go as this will give a custom fit for any size leg big or small so they can grow as you do, also I myself went from the Poweriser 50-70 springs to the 7 Leagues springs except lightest ones there were (Raptor ones) as I am very light but still strong in the legs due to my inline skating and skate boarding backgrounds, I agree the 70-90 T-Rex would be the best bet as when I went from poweriser (stiff to compress) to 7 League I found to compress them the first 30 percent is easy as the top end are very soft and I am very glad I did this as once you start to compress them farther down say to the 50 percent mark they do get stiffer and give much more power return and after I work my technique out and maybe gain a little more weight will help me too I should be jumping well on mine.

I had been on mine for nearly a year and a half now, and still I searched for the best springs to suit my ability, and out of all the ones I had, the 7 Leagues did win with me too, as I love the ability to compress them the 30 percent easy as on the other ones they are all stiff or hard to get started to compress just keep in mind to put all your power into your heels and keep your legs about shoulder length apart at all times to prevent tangle of the springs and most importantly, look far ahead of you keeping your body posture straight as this will prevent falls until you feel used to them, best of all Have fun when you do get them.

I found when I went from the knee bar to the cuffs I felt instantly secure and wanted to put everything I had into my jumps and this helps a lot too where the knee bar was always loose on me, no matter how much foam or padding I used, it always moved or slipped at some point in time, so like already said if money is not a limit, get the best that suits "You" and hope it all works out too.

Yes Cantallian,
A very sad, but a true story. In fact the aluminum of some parts are now 1/2mm less thick what has been the absolute wrong choice. This in fact is the only point where the product quality has dropped, but I agree this with no doubt is a real bad thing.
Another point are the rubber part of the hoofs which are of very varying quality within the last year bulk’s. But following myself the worst of it all, is the fact that the troubles of the bending aluminum lips of the hoof part where the axis to the lower lever coming from the foot plate, is still not solved. And to go back on thicker aluminum would be for sure one step forwards, but there would be more work to be done, to solve these serious troubles.
So personally I’m kind of pissed off by the fact, that the Koreans are working on new springs with better dynamic, they have been working on cuffs so as on new shock protection parts. In fact, all things that has to be done, but why they do exclude the worst trouble to be solved?!

But this is exactly the result out of this crazy cheapo price battle supported by most of the users. And this is why I always do complain about this cheapo mentality which shows one more time to be real not at our benefice. Not the customers and not the retailers as well can be happy with such things, so it will not be at the manufacturers benefit as well at the end.
And there for I whish all producers of high end stilts good luck and good selling business, seen only this would show all the others, that there is a request for better bouncers and people are willing to pay some more for better quality.

Have fun, says Dome

I cannot agree there Dome. The rubber spring protection was replaced with a nasty loose fitting plastic version that damages instantly and self-destructs once it gets the slightest tear in it. Of course you can tape the springs or use the optional neoprene spring covers to protect them but you should not have to because the manufacturer should be sending his product out with good protection in the first place.
