Trouble changing springs

I finally received the correct springs for my stilts (powerizers), but I have one problem.  I have the spring removed, but the foot section is still on.  There is a tube with a white plastic piece underneath.  How do I remove that?  The manual just shows it popping right out, but I have no clue how to properly pull it out.  In fact I managed to snap some of the plastic on the two "ends".  I am getting rather frustrated with this considering I was never supposed to be changing them (got the wrong springs with the stilts initially, see here: http://www.PoweriserPages.com/forum/help_got_my_stilts_yet_wrong_model_should_i_keep_them-t4476.0.html). 

Anyways, any help would be much appreciated.

i'm not sure what you mean, if you undo the bolts at the top of the spring, and the top and bottom of the hoof, it'll come right out.  if that doesn't help, can we get a pic of what you mean.

I managed to remove it, but it destroyed the lid on one of the caps.
After changing springs and scrwing it into the foot section, I went to re-assemble the section in the pic, and I was only able to put one cap in.  I figured it would not matter too much, so I only used one and then added the washers and the rest as it was before.  It seems ok and seems solid. 

For the second leg, I managed to just slide the spring out from under that tube and so I never took it out.  Guess you learn from your mistakes.

Anyways, both springs have been replaced now and I am ready to finally try them (after staring at them for about a month).

Somebody ought to make a video on how to change springs one day.  It will help out the beginners such as myself!

you mean you snapped one of the plastic bushings that sticks into the frame?  You should definately replace that, its an important part

Yeah, without that bushing (cap), your bolt will have too muck play to move around in that frame hole and you are going to trash the frame hole out of shape in no time.
