I've tried about 10 times now. I just can't seem to get my front leg vertical enough, only about 45 degrees in fact. Maybe I'm too old.  Tongue

Whoa, thats cool... The 2nd one looks easier as it's just a  backwards roll into a handstand (And I can do those Tongue), rather than using the momentum of your legs to flick your body up...
I might have to give the 2nd one a go (and fail miserably lol)

I can't even do a handstand. Don't even get me started on trying anything more advanced. I would love to be able to do the first one even without PRs. What is it called?

the first one without pr's on is really simple.
if you get the coordination right the push from your hands helps alot.

bocking actually increases your stomach muscles so i wouldnt be surprised if you didnt need you hands at all.

[i can do them no handed after doing parkour for a year or so]

ive heard loads of names for it.. the people i know call it a back up.

I just managed to stand up on my own about 5 mins ago..

I would say to anyone trying it for the first time, to have a chair or something a bit infront of you to rest your hand on.. so you can balance when pusing up..

I did it a couple of times using the chair, then when you have got the technique and a bit of confidence (after all it requires pretty much torowing yourself fowards) try it without the chair

Good Luck Grin

A picture says a thousand words Grin

I found it useful to have a chair to steady myself on step 3 while learning this technique

Yeah, there are as many technique of getting up as there are bockers, but this is a very basic and easy technique to learn. There are more advanced ways, and guess who know them best;)

Locky - put a chair infront of you and off to the side of your trailing leg to rest your hand on.. it will;

1. Give you something else to push up off
2. Help you balance

I found it really helpful while i was learning.. once you have got the technique figured and some confidence, try it without the chair Wink

I have found I can do it with the smallest and sillyest of things to help me.

I got up once using a brick turned on its side to push off and that must only have been a few inches tall.
I put it down to be older and less flexible so I've been stretching most days to get my legs a little more bendy lol.
