Hey guys,

I know a few of you have been asking questions about standing up from a fall.  Here is my tried and true technique, which i've learned after a few falls.

Here's my clip of getting onto the ground without harming myself.  It's getting up, only in reverse!

I'm moving a little less than top speed, as i'm on "supershoes" and not powerisers, and i'm not quite used to the lighter model.

Thanks for taking time to make the videos, there's some serious megybyteage there!

I watched getting_up and run_1. Your technique to getting up is the same as mine, pretty much. Put one leg in front, bring your knee as close as possible, move your weight onto your front leg- then go up.

Btw I like the idea of jumping across car parking spaces

Lol, i left them 640x480 uncompressed.  I forgot to mention that unless you have a high speed connection, to download prior to watching by right clicking and hitting "Save target as" and saving it to your computer to watch.

the first time i fell someone actually pulled me back up, then forgot id have to learn how to get up myself; sooo i fell on purpose and tried.

all i did was went into the middle splits and walked myself up

This is still really hard! Jus' one of those things to keep practicing at, especially if  :poweriser:ing on my own, no one to help up and there may not be a convienient bench to hand!

I find that too lukey, it's hard enough to get your leg round the front, let alone push yourself up with an extra 2ft on your leg length. I can get about halfwayup, then I need to pull myself up the rest of the way, otherwise I just keel over!

I have yet to do this (stand up on my own after falling). I am 40 (soon to be 41), a bit out of shape and not very flexible (which I am working on). Without that flexability it is very hard indeed to stand up via any of the methods I have seen or tried Smiley .

I must say that now I'm a lot better at getting up.

I'd recommend to everyone to spend a good hour or two just getting up. Fall down, then get up, the more you practice the better you get.

I've seen theres a lot of interest in training for running and jumping and not enough on getting up.

Falling is an inevitability. When you do fall, be gracious and show off at the same time that you can get up unaided!

Yeah, thats right, ALWAYS get up on you own, even if someone offers help. Just say that you need to pratice in a nice way;)
