No point starting a new thread when this seems to answer most my questions.

Went for my first jog today and found it took a while to slow down.
Will try some of the suggestions for slowing tomorrow.

When running, if someone was to step into your path, is it possible to change direction quickly, or do we just crash?

Did I say anything about who wins?  All I said was there will most likely be a crash -- as in two objects meeting with force.  Usually preceeded by the word "SH*T!!" or something to that effect.

Good luck with that, just don't sprint when there are people all around.

I just lean back and stop how I would when running normally without stilts. With the stilts you just need to emphasize your leg movements more to accommodate the spring back.

Or just sprint on the road rather than on the pavement.

To stop from running I step rapidly whilst leaning back slightly. If you use the two-foot bounce method remember you've got potential energy from running changing into kinetic energy when the springs are de-compressing so if you're aiming to stop angle your jump to be upwards rather than forwards.

When I practice this use a court of some kind and run up then aim to stop before a boundary line OR better is to stop as soon as you cross the line and then improve by shortening the gap afterwards. You can't stop on a dime but you can reduce your stopping distance.

If you're really after a challenge run and have a mate randomly should "CHILD!" and see how far you travel from the point of him/her shouting to where you stop.

Good luck

A more confident bocker technique would be to go from running to a jump, and when you go for the jump you put your legs in front of you to get all your forward momentum into upwards momentum. It works o.k, but not the best. I usually go with lukeys technique.

I was just thinking.  It would be cool if your just running along and someone's offspring wounderd into your path and you lept into the air over the child.  Then little offspring points back at flying human and goes "Mommy I want those" as mother scoops up the offsrping and scolds it for running off like that.

The most effective method I have found of slowing down is sprinting through mud, slipping, hyperextending your knee, tripping over forwards, doing a partial frontflip, and grinding along the pavement on your back to a halt. Resulting in ripped T-shirt, Ripped Trousers, Sprained Wrist (even with wrist guards), brusing down legs, damage to springs anfd frames, and this:

Did that Monday night btw, is healing up nicely now Grin
