Hey guys! well i gave into my mad desire and just order'd the T-rex's, went for 7 leauges as alot of you seem to think there the best ones. Well anyway my question is to anyone in the know. do you think i'll be able to bottom them out? i currently weigh around about 68 kilo's and so i went for the weight range above mine, but its only just above my range, t-rex's are 70-90kg

i used to be a gymnast at countly level and im hoping i should be able to pick up flips and such quite quickly as i can still just about pull off back summi's from standing ( they look interesting, more brute force than technique, some breaker friends thought they looked cool cause there so shabby and i look like im gona kill myself when i do em Cheesy)

thanks

Well, eventually, you will, but if you wiegh 68 and you choosed 70-90. It will take longer time for you to do it. But aslo remeber, it wll take you longer time to break them in now, so have patience. They will be just fine for you:D

I agree with zackiz the're going to be great. If you have good body strength from your gymnastics your going to get some great height once you break the springs in.

Cool.. Cheesy

A tip, dont even try bocking before you have armored the springs. You dont want to come in after you first time and know you have made big nicks in them. That is not fun.

Congratulations, good couice (in my opinion)

Bottom out springs is only a question of force or technique. If one of these two is high you should not have a problem to bottom out after a little bit practicing.

I weight 73kg and I can bottom out 95/115 springs, and I would not call myself a very good bocker.

I am looking forward to your videos.

im going to go shopping this weekend for some pads, ive already got some tape, i used it to wrap up my kali sticks in and its seemed to work pretty well II'm hoping this will do the job. I also hope I'll manage to drop a few kg's that have crept onto me in the last few years while getting fit again. I'll make a vid of my back somersaults so you can see how not to do them this weekend!

I look forward to seeing your video. If you can already do back flips without bocks you have a big advantage. I'm thinking of taking some trampoline training for flips and taking my 7Leagues along to see if the trainer can help. I can get plenty of height but I lack the confidence to do the flip. Cheesy

to be completely honest confidence is the main hurdle in doing it, as I'm sure you know! when i did one about 5 years after I'd stopped doing gymnastics i did it very drunk! it helped a lot! i didn't land particularly well but the second attempt i got it. Also got the confirmation email and there being shipped tomorrow so i hope to have them between Monday and Wednesday! and even better my mate works at a bike shop so i discounted pads woo! any mods i should prepare for them before they arrive other than the spring protection?

When you get the 7's check out the spring covering it's so thick you'd have to wrap at least 10 layers of tape around them to get the equivalent protection. I think any other tape is just going to be for decoration. Grin

Are you sure about that? You're 20kg under the designed weight and you can bottom them out?? I'd be very fupped off if that was me. Surely bottoming-out is the one thing you want to avoid?

I've been bocking for about 4 months now. I think if you want to be able to get the big jumps you need springs that will go down all the way with a good effort. This gives you back the most energy, it's not good just to have a hard spring that does not give the full energy return. Hope this makes sense, someone may be able to explain this better. Smiley
