Has anyone got any suggestions about where to buy on the internet protective padding for use with my powerisers? I think it's probably best I use some elbow pads and stuff.

Sorry Chris, I can't remember where I got mine, but I'd agree that it's worth buying some.

I don't know about internet shopping (except eBay and Amazon), but any decent sports shop ought to be able to provide elbow, knee and wrist protectors.

Tell them it's for in-line skating or skateboarding if necessary...

ok i work at a mountianboarding centre and well sell some of the cheapest sets of pads around u get wrist, elbow and knee for £20 and they are really good and will last ages i use em at the centre and you can fo wrong with them most ppl are medium or large if you are over 5 foot 9 u r probly large
Theyare called entry level but i think they are ace and the wrist gaurds have stopped me breaking my wrist and lower arm loads but i mean dont just dive in have a look around inline skating and boarding pads are bout the best vert pads are the very best as they are designed for falling from a great hight in a half pipe and the tri pack on ride the hill is for a mini ramp so they r good enough hope i help

sixsixone.com

rockgardn.com

Both on  the pricier side, but heck...

i'm willing to pay a couple of extra dollars if it means that i'll be able to go to work the next day if i lay myself out.

I've purchased:

elbow/forearm guards (Rockgardn)
padded shorts, (Rockgardn)
with tail bone padding and dense polymer inserts to protect other various areas like your hips....
a BMX Helmet (661)
BMX kneeguards (661)
Pryme Trailhands gloves (local bike shop)

I plan on using everything except for the helmet until i get comfortable on them.

Then removing the elbow/forearm guards
and leaving the kneeguards and gloves on.

For tricks and flips, or anything else crazy i'll wear the helmet along with the rest of the gear.

My Fly Jumpers come friday.  I don't know when the other pair comes yet... as I ordered them from Japan.

what are you talking about fuse?  I was a fairly active BMX rider, and i've fallen from WAY higher than i will ever get on a pair of powerisers.

That and that alone has protected my head from being split in half.

Hey fuse,

What kind of helmet do you use, for mountain boarding?

Sounds like you need to get a better helmet.

They aren't designed to take a lot of abuse.

The 661 Helmets have a crash policy.  You send them the wrecked helmet, they send you a new one, free of charge.

They are meant to take abuse once, and protect your head from serious injury, once.

You shouldn't be using a helmet that you've crashed in, a 2nd time.

Be safe.

I wear a bike helmet, even though I'm far from doing tricks just yet.  I'm just paranoid about protecting my bean.

I use wrist guards that I got when I bought my rollerblades.

I use kneepads that I picked up in a thrift shop.  Their main function is to protect my knees from being bruised by the knee-bars when I wear the springystilts.

So far, I've only fallen once, straight forwards.  I hit my knees and caught myself with my hands, allowing my arms to bend and absorb the impact so my face stopped about an inch from the pavement in a push-up position.  [Note: push-ups (US) = press ups (UK)]  I wasn't wearing the wrist guards at the time so I got a small bruise on the palm of my hand.

I'm considering getting some elbow pads but I'm pretty cheap so I'm resistant to shelling out more money for gear.

Seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone of the Photography Competition. $70 in cash and helmet worth $57 for 1st prize! 2nd prize also gets a helmet.
So, rrcraig, one of the prizes might help you and your fundings out a little.

Rrcraig, are your knee pads solid, or material pads?

to protect myself I use wrist and elbow pads, plus a pair of soft knee pads.. But to win a helmet would have been great. they are like so cool haha
