I had actually had that idea in my head a few days ago, a way to fold the springs back so that you could walk around normally, the problem with it is when the spring slides up it's stab you in the leg if you bent your knee at all. It'd also prolly have to be unusablely heavy to be solid enough.

Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: Cut the wire?

I'm pretty sure we determined a while ago that removing the wire lets them slip easier, no one's done conclusive tests but that seemed to be the genearal opinion

(1)upkeep: I've had my stilts for 10 months now and have never replaced a part and they're still going strong. There's no real way we can tell you expect to spend X dollars per month or whatever. As long as you don't get a pair with a manufactureing defect your stilts should last you a long time. depending on how often you use them of course. Put on tire socks and you'll save the hoves, tape the spring so it doesn't get damaged, and you'll be all set. Defects are rare, and when they do happen the companies are pretty good at hooking you up with new parts or entire stilts. I'm going to be replacing my stilts after a little more than a year, thats about standard life for a spring, and i want to upgrade my frames as well, but they could keep going.
(2) running downhill? I'm with locky, i'd avoid running downhill, it can easily get out of control, but you can run up hills and walk down them easy enough.
(3) where to buy and what model? Well if you're willing to wait till the end of april go for xphub, they're the best price you can get in the US. They sell PoweriSers, which are fine stilts, and if you get them you'll want PR90120's for your wieght. Your other option is PoweriZers which you can get from many retailers, the cheapest of which is xtremeimportz.com they cost a little more, and are basically the same stilts, you'll get a different answer as to which one's better depending on who you ask. If you get those I'd reccomend the M120, you're in the ranged for M100's but I'm 15lbs lighter than you and bottom out my 100's quite easily, so you want a strong spring that'll last. As for which one to buy, i believe their quality is so similar you should just go for the cheaper one, and currently that's PoweriSer.

I dunno how they'd compare, but as far as i know PoweriZer and PoweriSer are the only brands that can legally sell in the US at the moment so i'd be cautious till someone can tell me otherwise

just a few notes about xkicks from what i can see on the site after about 2mins, first off, to my knowlege most of the brands on there are illegal to sell in the US, did you get a new royalty agreement? secondly about half if not more of this page URL removed is directly copied from Bill C.'s http://powerbockresources.com/FAQ.htm somehow i doubt he gave permission for it. Just some thoughts
