16  Powerising / UK / Mini-Meetup in Manchester - July 12th 2008 on: July 04, 2008, 12:50:34 PM
Me and Snoops and maybe a few others will be having a short meet-up on the 12th July in Manchester. Originally it was just me and her as a means of getting some proper practice in before the ScousyBouncy group get their gym training schedule sorted, but I asked a few others on my contact list if they were interested, so whattheheck.

If you're coming, aim to be at Victoria Station at around 11:45 in the morning.

Er, that's it really. Snoops has some good recommendations for areas to bounce in. We'll probably get a few hours out of this. If enough people turn up anyone fancy Wetherspoons?

I'm in the Manchester area (about 20 minutes away), Ryan (Skip) invited me to this, but since I'm an absolute beginner I don't know if I should attend, since you're looking for people who can do (positive) attention-gaining tricks, whereas my bocks haven't even arrived yet.

Do you have any more details? Thanks

I've done a detailed article on brands and models here, but not modifications. Feel free to make one Smiley

Can I add you to my messenger contact list?

Tada:

Personally I prefer the Evo2 bindings but its upto you really, and at 70kg you definatly want the T-rex's

Alrighty then. I've just ordered the T-Rex Evo2 and a helmet to boot. It's slightly more expensive than I thought (about £275), should arrive by the end of the week.

I'm thinking in the future of putting together a bocking wiki or some kind of database on bock brands, models, and modifications. Anyone interested, or has it already been done?

wandering more off topic now but I guess its been answered.

I guess so. So everyone's cool with 7leages?

I can't see the option for bindings on their site though.

I think we should be focusing more on the spring than the bindings or cuffs as these can be more easily replaced or changed at a later date.

So it's possible for me to buy a pair of 7s and then change the bindings and cuffs on them?

Provided it isn't too expensive (and doesn't affect the structural integrity of the bocks) I guess I'll go that route then. Where would I get the evo2 cuffs and bindings from?

Ta!

However if you buy the PoweriSers you get the better bindings and calf cuffs which the 7's don't have.

Good point. Are there any close-up photos comparing the bindings of 7s with PoweriSers? I'm not too bothered about quick-release, so long as it's comfortable.

The place you are looking at the moment is a rip off, they selling classic powerisers and at £229 you can get the new advanced model.

I'm assuming your from the UK so your main choices are:

Projumps which are £135 and can be bought here:
www.projump.co.uk

Poweriser 08 Model which are £200 and can be bought from:
http://skatehut.co.uk/acatalog/Adult_Powerisers_2008__199.95_.html

7leagueboots which are £240 and can be bought here:

Thanks for the links, I should look harder in future. How do 7leages compare with Powerisers? I remember somebody did a comparison chart a while ago which compared features, like how one uses legbars but the other uses cuffs and some other stuff.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend really and how sure you are that you will enjoy the sport, you don't want to spend £240 and then go on them once and never go on them again.

Something in the ~£220 range.

Also where abouts are you from, there may be indviduals or groups around you

Knutsford, just south of Manchester. But I'm starting at Birmingham University in September.

I like to think I've done my homework: I know about the dodgy patent-violating imports and about the good ones. Now that my exams are over, methinks it's time I finally got round to buying them so I can post videos of injuring myself to youtube (as you do).

From what I've gathered, you can't go wrong with the original PoweriSers, and that there's a new version (the "2007" release) which only now available in the UK. So I guess I'll be going with this pair (since I'm about 70kg):

http://www.shop4-group.com/product_info.php?cPath=65&products_id=366

But can anyone tell me if Shop4Group is a good place to get them from? And if the pair they sell is the new release?

As a side note, I've still got my safety gear from when I was into skateboarding a 6 years ago, can I still use that or should I get some new stuff considering they're all a bit of a tight fit. Also, what spine protectors do you recommend?

Ta!

(I'm also looking to attend Capital Bocking in Cardiff this summer).
