i am going for that next sunday , hope i do well , thx ian , u r a star for making that , cool,

Good luck, I hope you do well and make sure you film it and get me to have a look at it!

if you do a barani but with a tuck would that give the same look as a side flip but without the side impact on the knees?  I guess you wouldn't be able to do em back to back at that point.

I suppose it would look similar to someone who didn't know what you were doing. But don't worry I have filmed the stuff for a barani tutorial as well so expect that on here shortly!

I wonder how the stuff is called when you just pull your feets up when jumping. Always though that THIS is called a "side flip" and not the stuff you can see on the video. So how its called then? *confused*

Sorry, I don't get what you are trying to say?

Yeh some people tend to find it dangerous. When I do it though I jump up rotate and come down landing pretty much as if I had just jumped into the air and to the side a bit. Lol, almost.

I can say I have never injured myself doing this and I feel safest doing this move but that is only where I have practiced so much without my bocks on!

Cheers for the comments, I did forget to mention you shoudl definately be confident doing this on the floor before on your bocks!

I have some more tutorials coming soon!!!

i dont know what i am doing wrong... everytime when i try a sideflip i go into a backflip while spinning...

so i am doin a side to quarter twist^^

Upload a video and we can try and see what you are doing wrong!

when you take off looking forward fix your eyes on say a object in front  of you and keep looking at it as you go over, i found as you were concentrating on that object you dont turn your head and then turn to the side.

Yes thats a really good point.

some of the text was a bit fast so i had to skip back

I will bear that in mind on the future ones I do!

Dawesome also added some excellent advice that I recommend you read!

very good tutorial ian! its a very simple rotation but learning to send ur body in the right way is difficult.so totally agree with u saying you should have it comfortable and at a good standard on the floor/trampoline before you try on bocks.

On the knee angle thing, im actually very much aginst the take off rather than the landing for this (get to that later), ian does turn back to face the way he came and this is a must when you do it on bocks, and i do it that way. if you turn that extra 90 degrees in the air during the flip you land like you would land a back flip and is fine on your knees.

I find the power that can and will be generated by running and then throwing that momentum into a landing sideways for the take off is very dangerous and agree with anyone who says this is bad on the knees, because it will be. landing sideways means there is a chance that if a hoof slips or something else unfortunate happens like a break of the stilt in some way then your knees are gonna be under pressure that can be minimised/avoided.

if you jump high and then turn a 90 degree turn while doing this, you can get very high (less high than running as u lack the extra power the momentum of the run gives u, but still a great amount) and your take off is now just like any other jump. I do sometimes jump slightly forward to turn but only a maximum of half a metre, usually less than that.

I personally would advice the jumping into it technique as a safer alternative on the knees (plus if you learnt on the trampoline you would have learnt from jumping up and down and just doing it anyway), which for me is still good as i can still do the extra 90 degree turn for the landing and backflip after it without any problem so i find it good.

Appreciate your comments, good or bad!

More to come soon!

Are you measuring where you head gets to or where the bottom of your bocks are?

I have seen people do backflips on and off bocks.  Has anyone triend to do a wall plant/backflip with jumping stilts on?  Twould be quite interesting.
