Regardless of records, that's still impressive. I have a hard enough time getting over my fear of jumping down 3ft ( which is silly, since I jump higher on ground).

Welcome! Hope you enjoy the sport. Take your time and wear your gear. As for the spring covers, I bought a 6 pack of athletic tape at Dick's Sporting Goods. $12 and there is enough to cover 4 sets of bocks. Have fun and congrats on getting married.

As far as the shoes go, get some skate shoes. Also, the first few times you have bocks on, your feet will hurt a bit. Partly because they are not used to being strapped down, and partly because as a new bocker, you'll have a tendency to lean forwards a bit, instead of keeping your weight on your heels. It'll pass.
