Vinyl would be your best bet, as it is a pliable material. It should stretch/shrink as the spring does it's thing. Make sure you get a vinyl sticker with industrial strength glue.
my friend adam screens and has a vinal machine for multi colored vinal stickers, and then you could get the heat shrink vinal and wrap it around your sping but get it possitioned as you want it the just set it in the sun, but it would get nicked up if your spring got scrastched or drug on the floor/ground

twas windy as hell,there was a wall right there where mi cam was wind was coming from over the wall...to the wrist guards yeah i really should try to boost some of those
