It HAS got messy; this thread has already given rise to the idea of ET and Jono spit roasting my girlfriend at the london meet and Tom Thumb raping an alligator before freaking out a herd of cows... if that ain't messy in your book I'd REALLY like to see what is you perverted little reprobate! he he!

You get all four of those in at once? Jesus wept... J-Jack - I'm sure there's some rule against selling something second hand if you wear it on your ass...

Ok, so "ground crew welcome" should actually read "ground crew will likely be double-teamed by jono and english-taylor"... Certainly gives new meaning to the term "power-bocking"! It's a fair cop - clean up after yourselves though yeah? Did I mention that my GF is a pretty good pole dancer? Oh, and Tom_thumb; having been bocking in a field full of cows I can tell you first hand that they are VERY unlikely to remain still should you attempt to leap over them... bocks seems to induce in cows some sort of primal instinctive fear, and they freak out like they're being chased by a velociraptor. Though if your picture is anything to go by it would appear that you're more than comfy raping an alligator, so fill your boots my son

Hey kaaaaaaaren... I've only been bocking a very short amount of time so please don't think I'm being headstrong by giving you advice! I manage to get up using the technique you're trying here... however the one thing I noticed is that, once you get up onto one leg, you're trying to stand by simply pushing off the floor with your left hand, whilst your right hand is doing nothing. Do what you do at 0:35 seconds in but try putting your right hand on your right knee and use that to push and get some leverage coz it's really hard to push yourself up with the power of your legs alone :-) Good luck!

Powerising / Problems / Re: Shoes and pins & needles...

I had this too, but it was coz I was wearing thin canvas shoes. I had to do the straps up real tight coz the shoe just squished, which meant i was just tightening them onto my actual foot. I switched to a pair of fat chunky skate shoes with plenty of padding so the binding can sit nice on tight on them; the shoe now takes most of the pressure as opposed to my foot... haven't had pins n needles since :-)
If you're feet are still too small try wrapping some material around the bindings a few times to thicken it up - might be more stable than wearing big shoes that are loose on your feet

Powerising / Problems / Re: What injury will occur when one falls backward?
|

the only time i've really fallen over badly was falling backwards, but luckily i was wearing wrist guards and elbow pads - if you put your hands out behind you you're likely to break a wrist as they can't cope with that much impact, but it's the natural thing to do... soooooo, make sure you are wearing wrist guards, and try to position your hands so that they slide outwards as they make contact with the ground. That's what wrist guards are for - you just scrape them along the ground to dissipate the energy, then whatever is left can be absorbed by the squishyness of your butt. Like badambomas said, it's best to lean forward as you do this minimise the impact on your coxix (base of your spine). Im a noob on my stilts but I learnt this from skating and it applies here, and quite literally saved my ass about two weeks ago! Another popular bail when skating is try and twist as you fall backwards so you land more on your side, then you can use the elbow pad to take the brunt of it. Parkour guys would probably advise that you back roll out of it, but this takes skill and would be a nightmare in stilts! If you're really worried about your back you can buy a spine protector for the base of your spine here http://www.pro-jump.co.uk/pp/ProJump-Safety-Protection-Gear/Back-Protector.html - it'll make you look like something from an HR Geiger painting ( http://www.hrgiger.com/) but could help your confidence in flip training!

I've never used flyinglocust stilts and I've not been bocking long enough to have snapped a spring, but I love a good ruck so count me in. F**K THE SYSTEM! (admist other such "rage against the machine" type bobbins) ho-hum... :-)
