There will definitely be a market if they make adapters for normal springs.  If they don't, then I doubt that they will ever get off the ground.

A couple of hours ago I was bocking and I slipped on a leaf.  Now the lower joints of my right bock are noticeably looser.  Maybe those are bocks I'd buy, after all...
Especially after the closer look at the heel.  I would have never thought of a truss.  That looks pretty sturdy.  The lack of support rods still baffles me, though.
And it's quiet too?  That makes sense, the spring takes the shock instead of aluminum.  Give it pivoting footplates and it's number two on my wishlist after mystery springs.  It's probably right up there anyway, but I'm definitely interested in seeing the final product.

I got a pair off eBay that had been drilled...  They broke after two days.

What I meant was that most springs will fit onto any frame currently in production, and you won't have to do any modifications.  S-Rexes require a bit of drilling in the new frame because they're so huge.  Up-Wings probably don't fit onto any model and I'm certain that no other springs will fit onto Up-Wings, but they don't make them anymore anyway.  Powerskip springs require smaller bolts, so you'll have to buy  a different set of bolts to attach them to the new frame.  Other than that, any spring will fit onto any frame without necessitating any mods.

They're somewhere around half and half, I think.

Orange...  They're either Skyrunners or a Flying Locust brand.  What color are the springs?  Skyrunner springs are green, current FL springs are black, but they used to be some other color (Not sure which) before they started making them half carbon fiber.  Do the frames have any coloration?  If the frames are colored, they're Skyrunners.  If the frames are shiny gray, they could be either.  Skyrunner has had both black and white hooves, while FL stilts have always had black hooves.  The rubber parts of FL hooves are removable.  Oh yeah, and the newest Skyrunner model is usually orange and has pivoting footplates.  The foot bindings are cloth straps.

On the thought of tiring out: as you get better, not only will some key muscles get stronger, but you will also learn how to move on them much more efficiently and comfortably, saving a great deal of energy.  If I put them on for my first time today with my current musculature, I would still probably not be able to bock for very long.  Between learning to walk right again and the weird muscles required to do it, I'd hazard a guess that even an Olympian acrobat would start off pretty shaky and limited.

I hope that helps, and welcome.

EDIT: I forgot to say this, you DO have a full set of pads, right?  Wrist guards are the most important, you'll also want a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads.
172  Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: Taping the spring? on: September 02, 2008, 05:00:41 PM
Well then, to each his own.  Every method here is sufficient; I guess it's a matter of taste.  I think inner tubes are the best, most people are quite content with tape, and I suppose there's nothing wrong with tires either.
Just don't use duct tape or gorilla tape because it isn't tough enough.

They'll fit onto any model currently sold with no modifications, while we're at it.  The only oddballs are Up-Wings, which are no longer made, 7league S-Rexes, which need part of the new frame near the top bracket to be drilled out, and Powerskips, which require smaller bolts.

Looks interesting.  I like the idea of an alternative to Up-Wings that's manufactured in Germany and built to last, and I REALLY like the idea of adapters for normal springs, but the adjustability does not seem to be worth the extra weight to me.  I'd like it a lot more if they put some more holes in the column, maybe put some holes in the diagonal support if possible, and replaced the chunky aluminum blocks that make up the footplate with plastic.  I'd also like to see pivoting footplates.  Finally, I'm not entirely sure why they decided to drop the idea of support rods.  Sure, it allows you to easily fold them up, but it also requires some heavy-duty parts at the heel, and even so it would be extremely hard to make them as durable as bocks with the support rods.

I'm glad that the prototype in the picture is a prototype.  Those are not bocks I'd buy in their current state.

The original post has been fixed up once more.  It now includes the different point of balance for 7leagues, a description of how to assemble and adjust Poweriser cuffs, and a summary of the new Skyrunner model.  I had to cut out a lot of superfluous tidbits and commentary because of the 20k character limit for a single post.
176  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Same-spring variation? on: September 01, 2008, 12:13:44 AM
My first pair had a right spring that felt a bit softer than the left, but I have no idea whether it was the springs or the characteristics of my legs.  I think a few of the first Flying Locust 1/2 CF springs were different enough to be notable, but otherwise they are all very similar.

If you're worried that one spring is stronger than the other in your own pair, the best thing to do is try hopping on one foot, then hopping at the same height on the other.  If one takes noticeably longer to bounce you up, then they are different, but it's much more likely just some quirk of your legs giving you that feeling.
177  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: TRAMPOLINE on: August 31, 2008, 09:57:21 PM
just one thing is nagging me: why is it measured in the English system?

Emperial... and although the official system of the UK is metric, both are still in common use, particularly when talking about specific products and with older guys like DK Wink lol. Why does that bother you? America doesn't use metric.

huh, I didn't know it was still in use over there at all.

I still hate Imperial.  I have gotten more comfortable with metric than Imperial from all the chemistry I have taken (Anything science-related is done in metric here.  High-end engineering, medicine, and the military all work on metric too.  Imperial is unofficially getting phased out from the top down), and really the only measurement common in the USA that I like is Fahrenheit.  Imperial is complicated, arbitrary, and uses fractions instead of the decimal system.

Cool!  Good luck with it, just one thing is nagging me: why is it measured in the English system?  I thought the UK was done with that crap.

Interesting flips, XS.  You don't seem to tuck at all, and it looks either awkward or really cool.  I'm not sure which, maybe both.

Good editing, too.
180  Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: Taping the spring? on: August 30, 2008, 07:37:42 PM
A inner tube is actually quite tough enough.  I could drag my bocks around on their springs with the inner tubes on and not have any trouble for a mile.  Taping costs some money, but hockey tape holds up perfectly well.  Those tires will definitely never tear, but they are definitely going to be heavy, especially MTB tires.
