Powerising / Injuries / Re: Backwards fall with pads= broken arm

We used to do exercises of leaping off of trotting and galloping horses to learn how to fall properly, and then roller skating falls. It's best to try to roll in the direction of the fall, do not stiffen and throw out your hands to catch yourself and stop your movement. That's the way you can break your wrists. Let your momentum continue to carry you and dissipate the force through say, your legs if you ball up and your legs continue over your head, instead of a stiff flat impact on the ground. I remember once falling while skating fast, and I put my hands out just enough to initiate a forward roll instead of trying to stop myself dead. Using your hands to deflect your body into the safest direction to use up your falling momentum but not to stop yourself is best.
That's not specifically addressing bocking falls though.

Sorry to hear that ES. I broke both bones in the same spot you did, catching myself in a fall. Yeah, painful. I know how frustrating the recovery is.
Oh. I remember how curvy in the wrong way my arm was! OOh.
Take care.

Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Pivoting footplate or not? Or what?
|
on: January 13, 2008, 07:48:08 PM

POWERIZER PRO VS. 2007 POWERIZER The Powerizer Pro has a pivoting (articulating) footplate, which allows for more natural running movement. The 2007 Poweriser has a "calf cuff," which most people consider more comfortable than the "knee bar" on the Pro Model. The 2007 also has superior "snowboard-type" bindings. However, the 2007 does not have the pivoting footplate. I'm getting mine in a couple of weeks, and still deciding which to get. I'm looking at getjumpingstilts.com, which has good prices, and see this quote above. A little confused here. So the '07 Powerisers don't have a pivoting foot plate? Wouldn't that be considered a negative? And then they're saying 'rizer vs 'rizer when in the body of the text they say 'riser vs 'rizer which is probably what they mean. I guess. Sorry, don't want to bring up what everyone knows already, but I can't find the info and this is confusing me now. Thanks.
