Ahh man, that sounds awesome... I think I have only ever seen a meteor once!
Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely be checking this out... with some psychadelic music and drugs!

EDIT: it seems that although people in the southern hemisphere can enjoy the show, it is not quite as prolific as what is viewable in the northern hemisphere due to the the path of Swift-Tuttle's orbit!
2  Powerising / Injuries / Re: Arrgh, the pain of failing my first back flip! on: July 30, 2008, 09:13:05 PM
Hey... I am not 100% noob, just a little bit! Unfortunately I don't have access to a gym so cannot really practice any other way. Besides, I am pretty comfortable with bocking and have been trampolining for about 15 years so I wouldn't call it running before walking, I am not foolish, just a little over-excited... It was inevitable....  Cheesy

3  Powerising / Injuries / Arrgh, the pain of failing my first back flip! on: July 30, 2008, 08:17:46 PM
Ahh man, powerisers.... why must you hurt me so...?

I think I have only had one session where I didn't fall over in the last 2 weeks since geting my bocks. First fall was on the same evening on my shoulder which has only just started feeling better.

But I just had a bit of a belter...
I have been feeling pretty confident with jumping up and down recently and have been considering doing backflips for a day or two. I was boucking around a little while ago and thought to myself, "hey, I can do a backflip, I reckon".

However... that was not quite the case!
I got some good height and went for it... and then I was falling... turns out I didn't have quite the right technique and got about halfway round before stacking on to my hip on grass!

It feels so different to a trampoline and the added weight on my legs made me spin way too slowly!

I actually kinda hurt myself and I can barely walk now! You know what the worst thing about it is?
I am now going to be suffering for a few days, can't even think about bocking at the moment and worst of all.... it's not even on video.... I mean come on, what a waste!

All this talk of pads and I managed to hurt the only part of me not padded up... typical!

Oh well, next time perhaps I will try with a crash mat instead of directly on grass and perhaps some sort of padded shorts/arse pads!  Wink
4  Powerising / Problems / Broken 7's EVO binding buckle, ripped foam and painful straps! on: July 16, 2008, 11:40:38 PM
I have now had my new bocks for 2 days and am having some serious fun. Shame about a) falling over because concrete hurts and b) being unfit and getting sore muscles!

I managed to fall over twice on my shoulder and think I have sprained it a bit after trying to run too fast and then becoming unable to keep up with myself.

The second time I fell, I also accidentally snapped off the black buckle used to release the binding on the 7's new EVO 1 straps. The only way to undo the binding now is to use the broken buckle as like a key to release them.

Anyone have any ideas about how to fix it or if they have experienced anything similar? I wonder if RTX Sports who I bought them from could offer a replacement? I noticed that when I had fallen over, I have often applied pressure to the tab from the ground and have loosened the bindings a little so they are not a great design (especially for when you fall).

I also ripped the padding on the knee bar at the same time I fell over so I guess I should use some sort of tape to fix that back up?
Kinda sucks breaking them so soon, but it's going to happen at some point...

The main concern I have at the moment is the knee bar and the straps to go around your leg. I bought the new knee straps which come with the 7's S-Rex type X, but they are really painful on the back of my leg.

I am not sure if I have the knee bar in the right place or not, it is just under my knee, but the bar on these bocks is really big so not so comfortable. The single black strap hurts like anything on the back of my knee so I have just been using the yellow straps instead. These too are not very comfortable at all and was wondering what other people use to make it easier to wear for longer periods of time. I was thinking perhaps some knee bands would be good for more protection and some sort of velcro stap instead to get a better fit.

On a side note, I have been enjoying them a lot. I have got the hang of running and jumping quite well now although I have taken two falls to the front while running and also accidentally did two seat drop-like manoeuvres and landed on my arse!
I also went to go to my local sports hall where my buddy is the manager and he let me in to play around in the gym. I pulled out some crash mats and tried a few front flips on to my back which was cool. They are so heavy though so it feels really different than a trampoline or something.

Also, how long did it take the less in shape people to get used to using new muscles and stop feeling sore after bocking? I can hardly move right now!  Grin

5  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: Difference Between 7 League S Rex-X and S Rex-R on: July 15, 2008, 08:09:54 PM
Hi all, just a quick bump to say my new 7's arrived this morning and I have updated my first post to show some pictures of them too!

chalk up as a 'def maybe' rich   Grin

Heh, I will have to see... I don't get much free time these days, but if I can convince any of my friends to pick up some stilts too it could be a fun weekend!
7  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: Difference Between 7 League S Rex-X and S Rex-R on: July 11, 2008, 06:07:28 PM
Hey dude, i think we spoke on msn? Smiley Good luck with your S-rex' X's, i love mine, they are awsome Cheesy (I'd be practising more backflips now, if it wasn't raining Sad

Thanks man, it wasn't me unfortunately, but good to see another person here pleased with their S-Rex-X's. This rain we have at the moment isn't ideal, but I haven't heard anything back about them being dispatched as yet so hopefully the weather will be better by time they do arrive. Monday is looking sunny so I hope I get them by then!

EDIT: Just got an email back from 7 League support after I asked them about shipping times. They need to add the EVO bindings and make any final adjustments before sending them out so I will get them on Tuesday. According to the weather report, it may be raining on Tuesday though, grr!!
Man, I am getting impatient already... roll on next week!

Wow, welcome to the forum.

Glad to see you've got all the help you need and in my opinion you have made a great choice.

Where abouts are you from, there maybe some people or a group local to you

Hi man, thanks for the welcome!
I am from London so I am sure there are many people around. Perhaps once I get the hang of these I will see how it goes.

Capital London looks pretty cool, but a shame it's not in London this year otherwise it would have been perfect.

I will check out the extra tubing for the knee bar like people mention, unless they fit may fat knees with no problems! Smiley I think I will go with trousers anyway, not so much of a shorts guy so should be all good.

Looking forward to getting these like anything. I was hoping that 7-leagues.co.uk might offer a same day dispatch if ordered by a certain time, but have yet to receive any email about the shipping yet so I guess they will be here on Monday. Can't wait!

work? whats that?

hehe you won't regret it, you should get confirmation from parcel2go or someone saying they've been shipped, probably with DHL, so when it arrives check the packaging for any damage, and give the stilts a good check to make sure they're all ok and in one piece before getting on them.

http://www.stiltmodz.com/
there's a decent start check guide on there, now you should find something to do for a few days until they arrive, the wait will drive you insane Tongue

Cool man, I will do. Like someone else said, I am sure it's just a matter of time before the modding begins...!

I think they mentioned deliveries are with DHL. Any idea how long the shipping takes? Hopefully if they arrive tomorrow it will be an intense weekend!
10  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / That was easy... I bought some already!! on: July 11, 2008, 12:44:30 PM
Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your replies. You must be like me and bored at work to reply so quickly!  Grin

Anyway, I though "f*** it" and just bought some & League 7 S Rex Type X with the type 1 binding and extra knee strap. £265 with delivery to the UK from http://www.7-leagueboots.co.uk/

Thanks again for all your help, this a pretty awesome community here!
I will post some pictures in the next few days of these new bocks, maybe they will be helpful for other people who are interested in the new 7 League models.

Hi guys, thanks for your really quick answers. You pretty much told me what I wanted to hear. I have been leaning towards the S Rex-X model and the first site has the special offer bindings available too which is good.

Which model did you buy and how do you find them?
12  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Difference Between 7 League S Rex-X and S Rex-R on: July 11, 2008, 11:30:02 AM
UPDATE 1: Sweet, they arrived this morning!!! They were here already when I arrived at work at 10am (yeah, I know) so the delivery was pretty efficient. They look awesome even though the knee bar looks huge! Once I get back from work I will take a few pictures for other prospective buyers and of course try my first few steps.
Thanks again for your help guys, I am sure I made the right choice with these!

UPDATE 2: Back home now and have some pics.
I have compared them to the original 7's vs Powerskips article and noted a few interesting points.

Firstly, the new bindings and knee straps look a bit better and definitely seem to be a worthwhile upgrade. Especially considering that the knee bar is massive so these should help me stay put.

The plastic packaging seems better with none if it actually sewed in so I had no problems removing it. Although, the plastic covering the calf pad (?) was riveted in so kinda hard to remove all of it. Didn't have that problem with the logo being too tightly riveted so all is good. The spring looks really large compared to other bocks I have seen so hopefully it should stand up to some abuse.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of my new toy! (...yes, I know they aren't toys....)! Smiley

Well, the only thing left to do now is go and give them a spin!!

Hi guys,

I have been following the bocking scene for a while now and decided that it may be time to invest in a pair.

I have been getting a little overweight recently and could do with some more exercise. I cannot find my skateboard, my skates don't really fit anymore and I get bored with just running. So I thought some jumping about may be a good idea.

After a reasonable amount of research, 7's seem to be the best choice for me as I live in the UK and am looking for something that will take a reasonable amount of abuse.

I am 5"10 and about 90kg at the moment so want to ask a little advice about choosing the right model. I apologise for another one of these questions, but I guess I want to be 100% convinced before laying down at least 250 notes...

Anyway, I used to trampoline to a pretty high standard when I was younger and as I am quite experienced in other extreme sports, I want something that will not restrict me from any hardcore use. However, my current weight of 90kg is a far cry from a few years ago when I was about 70kg. Therefore I was considering the S Rex model, but want to make sure I won't have any problems when/if I get a little lighter.

If I do choose the S Rex, I am not sure whether to go for the Type-X or Type-R. I would prefer to do more jumping than running I think, but I haven't found much information about the differences of the two springs. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?

EDIT: I think I read somewhere the other day about the knee support being a different size on the S Rex models. Can anyone confirm that and let know what the size difference is? Also if any smaller guys have no problems with this larger size, I suppose my medium size legs will probably be fine too!

I am probably going to pick up a pair in the next few days from an online dealer, but there appears to be two websites offering 7 league boots in the UK:

http://www.7-leagueboots.co.uk/
http://www.7leagueslondon.co.uk/

Are they the same company or completely separate and which one is a better option? (Or does it not matter?) Anyone here purchased from either site?

Also, on the first website, they have a few extra options in a special offer for the boots like like the Pro EVO binding. Is it worth upgrading to this and are there any differences between the system 1 and 2 bindings?

I think that is all of my questions, I would be really grateful for any replies to help me with the choice and it's great to find this site, it has given me loads of info already.

Thanks very much...

EDIT 2: Just bought some 7 League S Rex Type X bocks!!! Pictures to follow after they arrive!
