I cant see why not, but you need to keep in mind your centre of gravity and the angle you land at. If you land and your tilted one way you're gonna take off in that direction. If you're reguarly doing this on one leg you're putting more strain on it (spring and muscles) so do keep it balanced/switch landing leg.
Other than that should be fine, I'd have thought.

Yeah but then you have people think you're taking this piss. Oh what to do!
Everything aside, just use common sence everyone. If its crowded be really careful and dont try anything. If you've got a decent window of space then go for it but always check your surroundings.

Great discussion guys!
I think to summarise: Whilst springs are generally interchangable I think we're gonna have to agree that Upwings'es are an exception to this rule.
Anything to add?

Yeah but the thing is we've all been doing it a while and do check the area (radius of a few metres) before we start doing anything. It'd be great to be able to get in touch with the relevant local authorities and say "Hi, we're gonna be in town doing xyz, are you cool with that?" but in a more professional manner of course. But that wouldn't really help thinking about it, even if they're cool its not like you'd get this over the highstreet tannoy: ** !BING BONG! ** Good Afternoon Shoppers! Please ensure all pets and young children are kept on a short leash as there will be jumping stilt walkers in town. This is for your protection, they know what they're doing. Thank you, and do take advantage of our double discount sale at.....** to fade ** Maybe some of us should have shirts that say on the back " RELAX We can see you and your unruly kids and will avoid them! (Unless you state otherwise!) Coh, rant rant rant, look at me go, sorry!

Powerising / Learning Tips / TRAINING: How do you get up / getting up unaided ?
|
on: December 30, 2007, 11:46:20 PM
|
Hi Everyone! Open question really; Whats your preferred method of getting up from the ground? This can be from having fallen or from having just put your stilts on, doesnt really matter. How do you do? Personally, I have one leg in front (usually the stronger (I use left)) and one behind. Bring front's knee up to chest, push up from this compressed leg and recover by pulling up with the back (right) leg. Discuss!

You really need to learn to recoup after a fall. Getting up unaided is a MUST if you're taking it out to the street. Its next after pads.
When we meet up anyone who doesnt/cant get up unaided gets half an hour at least of crash course getting down and up. Give yourself that gift, get your pads on, find somewhere safe and away from the public (driveway/garden patio) and work on it. Theres two main ways.... thats another topic entirely actually before I split this one, one moment please.......

Hi All, (or in the doghouse like me) Well have fun, but 'fess up --what have you done wrong I won't go into details but if your girlfriend/boyfriend/both wakes you up in the middle of the night cos she/he/they are upset - WAKE THE F**K UP AND TALK TO HIM/HER/BOTH! Don't just give a half arsed murmuh and hope she'll want to talk about it in the morning cos she wont. Still, we've chatted now and its all cool but I've learnt a valuable lesson. Project G has taken a permenant "back-burner" role now but could be revived - don't hold your breath though. Urmmm however went quite well and todays test run highlighted some problems which I'm sure can be resolved with the appropriate tweaks. Moving on... The meet was fun, was as above but with Frankie instead of Elf. Just up and down the high street, a bit down the seafront. Only sour moment was towards the end when a CSO accosted us and said that he personally didn't have a problem with us but that he'd had complaints. We exchanged courtesies of course and carried on (but not jumping, just walking) but that does kinda bum you out, you know? It sucks to hear that because what I hear is pretty much pleasantries from people like "Oooh they're those things from the TV" or "I bet thats fun!" etc which I love hearing. I'm yet to have anyone say "Excuse me but you just jumped on my foot/shopping/dog" or whatever. Still, as some rap star said "Dont hate the player hate the game". But that said, dont hate either! We are approachable. Laters

A silent vid, very 1920's! Good movement though yes.
Yeah, to re-iterate Sprogs point, GET SOME PADS ON! Check the link in my signature for what happens if you "forget" to put them on.

Hi All,
If anyone's bored (or in the doghouse like me) and wants (needs) an escape then me and Jake will be around town. Also. I know I hate short notice meets but this one I might actually be able to attend! If you're up for this PM your mobile number by 1pm so I can text/call you where we are more accurately. Any later then just make your way down and keep an eye open + up a few degree's higher than normal!
Maybe see you later,

i just saw some sky runners being sold in pitsea market, they looked realy bad! and they were being sold at £85 for the adult ones!!! including pads and hats and stuff. i felt like going up and askin them if they even knew what they were for, and how they could sell them for that price!
k
Maybe try reporting them to trading standards. -Carma (The Bocking Rocker) I dont understand, should they be higher or lower than £85?
