good luck Smiley  this is very much a social sport and therefore its more fun w more people Wink (remember if you are more than 1 buying bocks the dealer can be talked into giving a discount so if theres 7 of u and 1 pair of stilts, then contact a dealer and ask what prices he can give u for a packet of 6 pairs)

very simple, heres what i did with my mate thats scared of hights:
1. I got him to put them on
2. I got him to walk while leanin on me
3.  I said "wow your doing great! try without me!" and ran off which left him walking on his own while shoutin for me to come back, which of c i didnt, instead i stood there and watched him walk faster and faster over to me.
4. He realized it wasnt scary or that hard, so i kept naggin him to get a pair. At first it was no, then maybe, and today he ordered a pair of his own (bless his soul!).

easy peasy

Managed to get 1 mate to buy powersiers, and i got 3 or 4 mates who are thinkin about it, and its less than 2 weeks since i started naggin them  Grin at this rate we will have quite a few bockers in a few months hehe!

I simply love how cool this sport is, and how easy it is to get people interested in it, my mate that i got to buy some is even DEAD scared of hights and he still got em!! so as we keep forcing our mates onto our stilts and makin em walk around and get a feel for it our numbers wil grow! hopefully Oslo wont be so blissfully free from bocking as it has been up til now.  my brother buyin a new pair of bocks as well so we are now three bockers, and we plan to make the local park ours by the end of summer  Cool

That park would be a great place for a meet if anyone of you islanders wana have a go at the european mainland (yes im refering to you englishmen!) big open park w lots of stairs in all varieties and lots of things to jump off of, like big square rocks about 3 feet high to about 5 feet high, long pathways to practise running, and due to all the statues and stuff in there if your lucky there wil be groups of jap tourists to freak out  Grin

37  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: Would like some advice ;) on: May 02, 2008, 11:09:27 AM
After some reading i am contemplating weather or not to get powerskip springs to put on the bocks i ordered, if they are superior and easier to use, would they not be better for me than the normal riser springs?

40  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Would like some advice ;) on: May 02, 2008, 01:49:29 AM
i have ordered PR 90120 (the slightly improved 07 poweriser), now i am a beginner and have been able to abuse my brothers old powerisers 5 times.  after discovering this site (props to the maker, been extremely useful for someone new to bocking and i have learnt a lot) it has come to my attention that the risers im getting are good but by no means the best.  so my question is (premature perhaps, but is till want to know) what parts break other than the spring from abusing them? do all parts from all other brands fit, and in that case could i just order parts and as i need them changed i could basicly build my risers into a better model? or do they break down so badly i eventually have to buy a brand new pair?

All i do for now is walking and slow runs (slightly faster than jogging speed) but as soon as my risers and the protection gear gets here il be doin jumping and tricks and start trying for flips as soon as i feel i have the skill to land one (can do flips from be4, not sure how they will be on risers tho:))

Reason im asking now is cus risers is only brand i can get in norway (to my knowledge) so if i can just keep replacing parts on them without having to buy a new pair of bocks il be ordering them as soon as possible so i dont end up with no bocks for a while as ill be buying the better parts if possible.

you know, i agree with you, but... unfortunately... i cant stop myself, im obsessed, however i only do walking and some running, i have the sence not to practice the jumping until i get my pads
42  Powerising / Injuries / Re: elbow and palm scraping on: April 30, 2008, 12:29:05 AM
i never use bandages or anything unless told so by doctor for that reason alone, and i did learn that i had the sence not to put both my hands out, and used my arm to protect my gorgeous face from the utter faceplant it would have been had i not protected it and rolled Wink as for being more cautious? doubt it, but in a few days my protection gear should be here and i can fall as much as i want Cheesy pain is the best teacher and im not scared of getting hurt (as long as its within certain limits)
43  Everything Else / Introductions / Re: Introductions on: April 29, 2008, 11:52:26 PM
I would love to have had pads, problem is i got none, but they are on their way, ordered them the other day.  but cant let a lack of pads stop me from practising, i never actually think im going to fall over so :S
44  Powerising / Injuries / elbow and palm scraping on: April 29, 2008, 11:48:27 PM
Was runnin on the side of the road, as im in norway there is a lot of gravel and such at the side of the road at this time of year as they havent been able to clean it all up yet from the winter, so i run as fast as i can (only been on my brothers powerisers 5 times, so it wasnt that fast Wink) and what happens? oh yes, we are talking slipping sliding wobbling my way forward until i realized this was only going to go one way and that was DOWN!  i had of c no protection as im stealin goes on my brothers powerisers, (i got my own set of 08 pr 90120 ordered along protection pack and helmet, but has not yet arrived) , and had no protection available.  that doesnt stop me in the least and i cant help but try to push myself even if theres risk involved.  So when i knew there was no regaining the balance i rolled, bringing my right elbow/arm over my head and using my left hand to try to dampen the fall and start a roll away from the cars drivin by.  when i came to a stop i felt no pain and thought "whoa that was lucky!" after takin of the powerisers and finding fence to lean on while putting them back on i started feeling it and i looked on my hands and elbow.  My left palm has three areas the size of pennies w no skin and my elbow has an area the size of a 5 pound note with no skin.

And yes, this was rush hour, so yes i had about 50 people or so staring at my wobbly fall from grace Wink

Hello!

Im Kris, found out about this site and jsut ha to register.  Very new to bocking, but i learn fast and got pretty damn good balance.

I am currently using my brothers 06 model powerisers when he lets me, as my new and improved 07 PR90120 is ordered but not arrived.  At first i found them silly tbh, then he talked me into trying, and knowing my buttons and getting me into a competitive mood i did, was running around the backyard 2 minutes later.  Been on them 5 times now, and today i fell over while running and managed to scrape off most my skin on my right elbow as well as my left palm.  Being as persistant as i am that only motivated me to get right back up and keep running, to my best friends amazement.  (he is rly scared of hights and hoped i wud hurt myself and get demotivated as im making him buy a pair as well Wink

Anybody know if there is any other bockers in or around Oslo? never seen anyone other than me and my brother -.-
