wife: "Why is there a 22 year old girl on our trampoline?"

Chuck: "She asked me out to the park, so after a few sweaty hours out there I invited her back to our place"

 Cheesy Cheesy

I'm 22 and have no gymnastic background, plus I live in upstate NY, where there's not much within reasonable distance :/  I'm not sure i'll even be able to find somewhere, but if/when I do, I'll post here.

My goal for the summer is to do a flip on the fiancee's trampoline, though right now i'm waiting for my neck to stop hurting from the last time :p

I'm very interested in this.  I think I'm too old to try flips over hard ground without a spotter too :/

How'd you approach the gym about this?  How much are they charging you?

I can't find any kind of "beginning gymnastics" class that isn't marketed solely to 5-11 year olds :/  I'd really like to learn handsprings and such, but the cost and the embarassment are intimidating.

have you tried on a trampoline? do you have some friends who could spot you?

I've been trying to do a frontflip on a trampoline before I even buy my 'rizers, and I hurt my neck :p  Don't die!

Wear a helmet, and pads.
... put a sweater on, it's cold!  Did you brush your teeth? (Man, I sound motherly, i'll stop)

I admit it, I giggled a bit at the title of your thread.

The way I understand it, everyone advertises 'risers because they're the best known, and Flyjumpers renamed their product to "poweriZers" to take advantage of that.

The only things holding me back from ordering a set myself are a raise (mortgage payments, aaaah!) and health insurance! Cheesy

I've got size 12 (US) feet, so i'm interested in this topic.

Anyone find it horribly uncomfortable? how far do your shoes stick over the edge?

I'd really enjoy all the positive attention I think (It's way easier to explain spring stilts than to explain LARPing...)

I didn't have any gymnastic training in highschool though, but I'll spend some more time on the fiancee's trampoline, and if there's room in my budget I might see if I can schedule some time with a trainer at the local gymnastics venue...

Thanks for all the replies so far!

What's it feel like when you're walking in them?  I've never been on stilts, but are powerisers like that?

Hi all,

I'm 22, 5'9" and about 170lbs.  I haven't done anything really physical for a couple years (i miss highschool sports!) and my balance isn't great, but powerbocking looks soooo fun!

Should I go for it?  I'm concerned that i'll burn out, or not be able to balance (big one), or break myself.  Anyone have any advice?

Thanks so much,

-Dan
