Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Amputee Allowed to Compete

As a transhumanist (google it), I'd rather see him compete in the paralympics, and have his numbers beat the olympians. Next year I'd like to see his numbers improve to the point that a biped runs the 100m in 5 seconds or something rediculous.
Think about this: He's allowed to compete, he wins.
Queue thousands of children and athletes amputating on purpose to get an edge.
Exciting for me, not so exciting for the athletes who aren't mechanically improved.

Powerising / Practising / Re: Finally Located a Gym! :-)

I landed my first back flips tonight. And i followed the rule and did two in a row. I did so on a trampoline, and first started with harness, as i havent flipped in over a year.
My goal is to be able to do fronts, backs, gainers, layouts, and a few other things, in addition to handstands and splits.
I'm going to do this 2x a week, on wednesday and thursday nights for 2 hours a night, until i can do everything i want to do on a trampoline, on a sprung floor, and finally on regular ground, and on bocks. :-)
I'm going to make the most of it.
I also got the gymnastics coach into it, and gave him 20 minutes on them, as an introduction to powerisers, and now he wants to get involved even more... so we may have a new member soon enough! :-)
Either way, that's my update for the night. Please post with some support!
That's awesome, congrats Dom! If you'll allow me to derail the bowing and congratulating, how'd you convince them? Or am I mistaken, and there's a lot more gyms that cater to adults, down there?

No, I'm saying they're already listening to it because it's "cool". Were this an event put on by the City or by a School, I'd absolutely agree that rap has no place, or any music labelled with "Explicit lyrics", though I suspect many parents don't actually read the labels on things they give their children.
But it's not, It's a corporate event, and the radio stations are the advertisers. I fully support your boycott of the event, but the only way the (hip-hop) culture is going to change is if you get the kids' idols (rappers) to change their music, or seriously talk about how children shouldn't emulate them.
I'm not trying to argue about how futile it is to try to limit a kids' experiences, or how I place the blame on the parents, and at a certain age the kids as well. I was simply pointing out that rap music is out there, and it's got a relatively large following and related culture.

The irony is that Power 105.1 radio is incredibly inappropriate for kids. It's just appalling that Powerade has chosen to include the station in this event.
I don't know how kids were when you were young, but words like "incredibly inappropriate" almost guarantees that kids want to be involved. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of rap at all, but it's what kids ages 6-24 are listening to. I look forward to the first pair of 'risers with spinners, ground-effects, and a horn that plays "la cucaracha", though I may be mixing up my east coast and west coast stereotypes...

Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / When to upgrade to new springs?

So I've just had a birthday, and am sitting on some cash. Rather than investing it for my future, or saving for a rainy day, I'm looking to blow it on something fun.
My options are
A. new pads (The ones I have don't quite stop the road rash, though they have prevented any breaks so far)
B. new springs.
I've got PR7090s now, and I'm up to 178 lbs (80 kg). I'm looking at the PR90120s, but I'm not sure it's a wise decision :/
When did you go up a spring weight range, and how did you decide it was time?

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. (for the most part)
If this were the case, I'd have completely impenetrable skin on my knees/elbows. I swear I trip and scrape them every 2 weeks... maybe I should get new pads :p Sorry for the derailing. I assume you've made sure your kneebar is at the proper height?

Yeah it is, its a bit of a drive to get down there for Bock NYC.... But, once we have a confermed date for our 3rd Boston meet, you can give it a shot and plan to get there. It is a big city after all, you can get a hotel, not sure if its really worth it, only gonna be out there for perhaps 6 hours.... Eh, seems like it'd be a good daytrip, 4 hours there, 6 hours up, 4 hours back. We'll see if I can get spousal approval though :p

A few more meets, which i hope to get a regular pattern of like one or two a month, and you will have a bunch of tricks under your belt in no time, same goes for you Ace... I cry upstate NY is like, way far away.
