1  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: all about flips? on: June 26, 2008, 01:27:10 AM
I voted yes just to be different, but really it isn't. The only time flips really matter is when stupid people are watching and don't understand anything.

I feel for you. Broken ass bone is never fun. I did mine in snowboarding, trying to be a smart-arse and doing tail-press pivots on ice.

I personally use kneepads, which cover the backs of my knees, as I used to get some pretty rad bruising all the way around my knee.

They also help keep everything tight and together if you have thin legs.

If you are looking to get pads, I would highly recommend anything by 661 or Fox racing. They make all my bike gear, so it should be more than suitable for bocking.

Pro-jump.co.uk sell quality springs at a very reasonable price. £75 for a pair.

That's where I got mine from.

1. What keeps you guys doing what some consider a dangerous activity?

Fun, adrenaline, exercise.

2. What is the strangest/funniest comment that a bystander has said?

Haven't really done it in public much, but most of what I hear is 'do a flip!'.

3. Do you have any other activities/extreme sports that you do?

Yes, lots. Downhill mountain biking, bmx, snowboarding, skiing, pier/cliff jumping, bigwheeling, shooting(does that count as extreme) and a bunch of other random stuff.

4. What was the most frightening thing that you have done/ happened to you on bocks?

Er, finding myself running down a hill on my first time out on them. It stung a bit heh. Oh also kneeing myself in the face after a failed front summie. I got a black eye from that one.

5. What is the worst injury that you have endured? from bocks or other extreme sports?

Black eye from bocks (not been doing it long). On the bike I once managed to jump throat first into a metal cable. That knocked me out cold, cut my neck open and knocked my top two vertebrae out of place slightly (C1 and C2?). That was a fun few days. Skiing I've had some pretty big bails while doing some cliffs and learning to backflip, but I've been pretty lucky thus far. Cuts, grazes and bruises don't count as injuries.

I always wear correct protection and stuff and I weigh up risks before attempting something. I like to see myself as more of a calculated idiot, rather than just an idiot. [Cheesy]

Cheers.

Can we PLEASE use KG's like the retailers do! ** We now sell PR11-14's , doesnt really work! **

Asmiffy, welcome to the forum. At 15.5st you're ~95kg which is outside the weight bracket of the springs you're looking at. You'll bottom out soon (esp if they're second hand and could've been softened up already depending on previous user*) if not snap them entirely.

Cancel the transaction if you can or as Athoul said get a new set of springs in the 90-120 range (14-18st).

Won't it be easier for him to learn on those springs before getting hardcore ones? I learnt on M70's before moving up to M100's (which are now working awesomely) and the learning curve on the softer springs was much much faster than on the tough springs.

9  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: PoweriSers Vs. PoweriZers on: May 02, 2008, 01:33:36 AM
Poweriser and Powerizer box and manual are the same.
10  Purchasing Powerisers / Where to Buy / Re: Spare springs in the UK?? on: April 30, 2008, 04:00:14 PM
Pro-Jump are probably your best bet because of price, speed and support.
11  Powerising / Problems / Re: Have I gotten too Stiff a Spring? on: April 30, 2008, 09:50:10 AM
Someone point him to this topic. He has the powah.
12  Powerising / Learning Tips / Re: Slowing down on: April 29, 2008, 11:02:18 PM
I just lean back and stop how I would when running normally without stilts. With the stilts you just need to emphasize your leg movements more to accommodate the spring back.

That picture has me scared.

Awesome.
14  Powerising / Problems / Re: Have I gotten too Stiff a Spring? on: April 29, 2008, 02:42:08 PM
Wait, so they'll never be good for me?
15  Powerising / Problems / Re: Have I gotten too Stiff a Spring? on: April 29, 2008, 09:21:44 AM
Sweet, so I can just keep cracking on with it then?

I think part of the problem is getting used to the speed with which these springs react when compared to the slow movement of the M70's I had been using.
