301  Powerising / Where to Powerise / Re: Circus School in Auckland on: January 26, 2008, 06:43:55 PM
I hadn't found any, nor tried very hard. The prices weren't as good either as the ons i did find. Besides, i was buying things from there anyway.

I think I would like to have a go at fire poi Grin
If you want some, make your own, don't buy them. It's a hell of a lot cheaper. All you need is some metal tubing, kevlar wick (somewhere like firetoys or beard will sell that), some chain, 2 swivels and some material to make the finger holds. Will cost you about £10 to make, compared to about £25 to buy them Smiley

I made my own, ended up being pretty damn expensive. Most of the cost was importing kevlar from New Zealand, and I used choke chains, which isn't necessary. Just go to a hardware store and they'll cut you a length.

305  Powerising / Injuries / Re: Backwards fall with pads= broken arm on: January 22, 2008, 09:55:25 PM
Hey everyone just an update.

I got a full cast on today ( i used to have just a cloth half cast) and it is white ( getting someone to paint it Wink)
Apparently all is healing up well. However the metal rod preventing my arm from rotating had to be left in  Undecided

I have after pictures now with the rod and metal plate in my arm, will post in gallery soon.

Ha ha, good but SO energy inefficient for the amount you travel Tongue
If energy efficiency was important, we'd all trade in our bocks for bikes.
And then trade the bikes for cars and pollute the planet! Cheesy
He said energy EFFICIENT! Wink
307  Powerising / Injuries / Re: my first fall :'( on: January 21, 2008, 03:38:12 PM
Hope you were wearing pads!
(ha beat lukey)  Cheesy

But yea like RG said it makes things way easier. But with the scrapes and all it sounds like it was relatively tough on you. Not many falls cause injury, and if you fell forward your bocks should be fine.

Doubt it will be the last for you. Wink

Ok coach theres a lot you don't know about bocking. The majority of this whole idea is impractical for a few reasons.
1. When a person is jumping, odds are they won't have the greatest amount of control, so they will be landing in many different places, meaning the spotter won't be able to keep control and stand by him.
2. These stilts can propel you high enough into the air that it would be hard for the spotter to hold on.
3. It is preferred to have momentum when flipping, because jumping in place won't get you the proper height.

In all, the spotter will get hurt, and the bocker will get held back.

Gymnastic practices change a great deal when you have 9lb (4.5kg or something) spring loaded stilts attached to your legs. That has to be kept in mind.
315  Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: Tire sock for the SPRING and Hoof on: January 19, 2008, 05:40:58 PM
Well there are already methods out there like using a bike inner tube over the spring which i find works well.
It has been discussed here before, but I don't think anyone put it to action. Let me find it.

Edit: arg I give up. It was like 6 months ago when i saw this.
