I would say that quick-release bindings are essential Wink

Dog collars for this makes perfect since.  A cat collar may work as the center binder

don't know if this will work but here is my Mercedes. Right now its dissasembled for upgrades to an Expedition Camper (once I find a place to live and can build a shop)
It  also runs on used cooking oil. Will be outfitted with an on the road centrifcal used veg oil cleaning/dewatering system

... Coachgeo, I'm a bit dubious of your experience with cold if you're from Texas. ...
why would someone even consider to assume someone elses life has been limited to where they live now?

Im new to TX. Still dont even have a home. Live on the floor of my office. Granted I got plenty of mats to drag in here to sleep on  Cheesy Butt...

lived in FL but that does not count. Also Ohio and Northern Nevada AND ....  at the base of a 14,000 foot mountain with SEVEN GLACIERS on top and a ski resort at 10,000 just below it in Northern CA.  So yeah I know cold. Maybe not as cold as the part of the world this gent is....  but cold enough to get a feel for it.

Bet the Russian Bockers are glad to hear about  Fiberglass not being a big issue with cold. Makes since. Snow ski's and snowboards seem to like it just fine.

The tire spring covers look cool and obviously protect the springs.  But I don't think I want to add that extra weight to my mine.
Did my mile treck and back for  lunch today and they did feel heavier.  Think I'll pull the padding and try wrapping the one tire further instead of adding a second tire or maybe get some of the blue rubber sheath/tube or bike tube available at the hardware store and go much lighter.

orrrrr.... just look at it like.. what the hell... I'll get in good shape and maybe woman will like my ass again. bwahahahaha

I've got them on my computer here, shall i upload them?
Could be a great asset for other clubs to have them so yeah... start a thread on the topic of ... hmmmm.  Bocking Club Safety and Liability material??   Not sure what would be the best forum though.

... the JJ's emphasise FUN, its always the safe type and we look after each other and  tell people just as much to stop as 'go for it' if required...

.......(Newbies) can actually be taught and learn. We have also undergone and seem to have survived a health and safty examination and extensive questioning --verbally and written.
Way to go!!!!! that will keep Bocking in good standing especially if others follow those footsteps.  Hope other clubs do just that.

Who in JJ would be good for other clubs to get advice advise about these safety Exams etc?

All well and good tell people that, but it in practice I beleive is something different. People cant instantly flip 'right', takes time to learn....
Points were Not about single flips. Was about DOUBLE FRONT flip.  No one should ever be doing doubles without extensive experience doing singles and better yet have experience doing doubles into pitts or water to build the air sense of where you are in comparison to the surface.

This guy seemed to know where he was in the air. He looked reasonable safe.  Could stand to have chest taller on take off (punch) This will increase the height slightly. Also put his hoofs slightly infront of him on the punch too would help tremendously.  This would add rotation of the hips traveling back and around.  On doubles rotation is a good thing Smiley  Rotation a good safe distance from the ground an even better thing Cheesy

Single flips are typically safer to learn landing down a hill too though.  Bock front flips... look safer though than feet take off. You have your head so much more above the ground think it would be hard to land on your head unless you balked.

Just a little heads up. Double front flips done wrong can be catascrophic!!!  The ones in this vid look farely safe though one did dump little low. Any lower.... not good.

The problem with double fronts is if the head or forhead clips the ground, mat, trampoline or, where ever your doing it, the rest of the body continues to rotate while the head stays there thus peeling it out of the tuck position. Body keeps going and head now is tilted way backward thus snapping the cervical spine. Usually up high too.  Quadraplegic Parallasis or death results.

A way underotated direct to head or face 1.5 front flip well....  thats just a nasty one you guys can guess the result.

If you really want to train them; (I advise against it w/out years of training to get good take off and AIR AWARNESS; which this gent may have had) a safer way to do it is to build a tall incline and cover that with mats.  Flip down hill.  If you clip a head it tends to roll you along and not pull the head out as much. Not full proof.... there is allways better fools.

Sorry to be a bugger.... just dont want anyone major hurt, or a bad name for Bocking. This is what happned w/trampolining. It would suck for Bocking to be a such a Great sport but remain in the minority like trampolining  has due to bad rep. from stupid "preventalbe" catastrophic injuries.

Yeah, at capital bocking DC one of the GJS guy's wife had on the kids model.  I'd probably call her 5'2" and a hundred pounds max.

My kinda woman LOL

now if I can just figure out how to get all these scratches out of the metal bits Sad
JB Weld might fill them nicely then paint

Course if your going to skin overthem with something like the Rapture Leg anyway why worry about the scratches.

Another easy solution is go to a cheap auto parts store and buy the cheap roll on  truck bed liner.  Practice putting it on some scrap metal from the junk yard till you think you got it figured out then paint your Bocks with it. Whala.... no more scratches and future scratches prevented.  Obviously any pivot points will have to remain unpainted so they get free movement.  Bolts and Nuts should be removed or covered before painting.

Looks great and thanks for the links.  Mentioned this idea few weeks ago and folk said they remembered someone doing it but had not recollection of who.

In my case was going to go all the way down to the hoof since some folk (namely me) tend to scratch up my colored ones on that bottom section that is channeled.
208  Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Bike Tire Hoofies and Raptor legs on: February 03, 2008, 02:53:34 AM
hoof was wearing fast from my couple road trips so took the tire sock idea and using zip ties made hoofies and raptor legs.

Hoofy  cut from 20x1.75" bike tire. (cut wire on the edge of the inner side of the tire with wire snips. Rubber can be cut with razor blade, exacto or box knife etc.)

1. 2x Cut from tire an amount same length as hoof
2. in 4 corners of each piece JUST UNDER the metal wire that is on the outer edge of bike tires; place a small hole or slice in the tire.
3. First for one Bock then the other; insert zip ties thru holes and the bracket the locks the end of the Bock's spring down; as shown in drawing (red). Zip ties pull against wire in tire so it should not pull  thru the rubber, but time will tell. My zip ties are black also.
4. Line it up careful as you go and tighten the babies up.

I used 20" tires so I could use the remainder to help cover the springs.  Last week discovered the place in town w/bike tires was closed so I used pipe insulation and athletic tape to protect the springs.

Raptor Legs
Cover insulation foam over springs with the rest of the bike tire from above... hence the name raptor legs cause of the ruff bike tire skin makes it look knarly : Grin

. Cut in 1/2 the remainder of bike tire
. With good sewing sissors cut off the inner edge of the tire that has the metal wire in it.  (it just formed to the shape I wanted better after doing this) To my suprise it cuts easily off
. Zip tie this too the INSIDE of the spring. Remainder (mine was 22" remaining) should be just enough to cover most of the inside of the spring and padding.

. *Purchase two more 20" bike tires (8 bucks each) and cut them to cover the out side from hoof all the way to the top of the spring (34"?).
. Might have to cut it making two seperate pieces. One from top of spring to where spring goes into metal channel at bottom.  The other is the rest from top of metal channel to hoof plate. Say this cause do not know if this joints flex will be limited by a one piece tire cover on the outside like described above.
. Might be enough tire left over to cover the inside of channel from hoof to foot plate arm to complete the raptor leg look.

*discovered this last part little late and thusly this section is speculation / idea stage only.  Will do this final bit myself later.

Bravo to ya.
210  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: We got a trampoline on: February 02, 2008, 09:34:18 PM
...I've been on a trampoline loads with about 2 or 3 of my mates and none of us have ever got hurt as a result.

That is what makes it so dangerous. The little insidents that happen bopping around are not ones large enough to warn you of potential danger.  Then when it does sneak up on you... its a biggie that includes a hospital trip.

Course us tramp coaches here about ALL the local hospital trips from tramp injuires where the average bloke might only hear about the one in their school last year kinda thing.

Hmmm. guess I shouldnt complain LOL.  Injuries on home tramps occasionaly brings me one or two new students who were the injured kid's neighbors.  These mom's decided no backyard tramp bouncing at neighbors house anymore so they sign them up here for classes instead Cheesy
