1  Powerising / UK / Re: Skegness July Meet on: July 20, 2008, 05:26:37 PM

Things not gone to plan in a number of ways, not got the buy in from the Council mainly. Asked if we could go in October ! Also we seem to be getting light on numbers.

it would seem that not a lot of people can make the day so I guess the best thing to do is cancel it as an orgainsed meet.

I will still look to go th skeg on the Sataurday if others are going. Please can you give me an idea if you are coming this way

I work in Lincoln England, the red arrows base is about 3 miles away so i get to see them practising often. Heard they were in the US and Canada and performing in NYC

The lay out isnot flat but includes lots of changes of height with wide steps as well as narrow areas etc. A bit more interesting. Also provides a grass are where we can chill or do stuff.

we do not need to be constrained to one particular area but this would be a good place to start without bother from jobsworths
4  Powerising / Practising / Re: 3rd Day and my first fall on: June 12, 2008, 08:58:57 PM
Running is not really runnimng at all more like bounding, you need to power down on the leading leg, this will give you a high stride. Also most people run with feet slightly splayed out which means on bocks you catch the springs together and fall. Try to point your toes forward to correct.
5  Powerising / UK / Skegness July Meet on: June 12, 2008, 08:55:51 PM
Can now confirm the following

Not a lot going off on the beach the activities are not scheduled for every week and generally only one ie tag rugby.

Not masses of support from the Council so this dictates what we can do

I have got acceptance for us to bock in the tower gardens on both

Suggest July weekend Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th. Arrive arround midday Saturday meet either at the train station or near the clock tower. Afternoon spent in the Tower Garden. Evening as you see fit

Sunday : Bock along the Seafront & some more fun at the gardens or anywhere you want. Depart PM

Also waiting to see if i can get either discounts or deals for camping or B&B.

Can you please begin to let me know if you are going to attend

Booking gyms can be either easy or very hard as it depends on the owners of the site.

Most are either owned by local authorities (Councils) or run by third party organisations for Local Authorities.

The more qualified and experienced you are the better chance of getting access.

If you have any experience of organising events this is good. Also really need to have someone who has emergency first aid training and if young people under 18 are present someone who is CRB checked would be needed.

You can get access without the above but you will need to show that you are resonsible and safety concious.

Also need to check on what insurances the site has and if they will cover you, if not you will need to either set up a club based insurance or have individual members carry thier own. Individual insurance for medical and public liability can cost as little as £50 per person per year.
7  Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: What is the best hoof protector? on: June 01, 2008, 10:53:14 AM
Also depends on the quality of the sox

I have used quality BMX tires and got 10 plus hours from them, also used ASDA £1 specials and got about 3 hours from them.

My main concern is always grip as the hoofs on Projumps wear to smooth after a short time so in wet (UK nearly always wet or damp) I have slipped and skidded.

Do it on bocks is near you in Cleethorpes, we also have gym meets in Lincoln. Due to summer activity these are a little erratic at the moment, not sure what DOB is doing with gym meets at the moment.

Trying to organise a day at Skegness in July so might be worth you joining us there for a day

I work in sport and am responsible for improving equality, one of my colleagues is paraplegic. he is an inspiration and a role model to many.

Stevie, we have met on a number of occasions, I was aware of some of experiences but not all. You certainly have my respect for both what you have achieved and who you are which is a top bloke and some one close to my age that Bocks!

The big issue with this is the possibility of gaining an advantage. There was talk about the advantage being that lower leg muscle fatigue would not occur so power could be maintained unlike other athletes. They must have worked it out to be insignificant.

Para olympics do have points systems to attempt to level the competition so people can be put in similar ability groups, these are always difficult to interpret.  The main olympics do not have handicaps or points systems. Not sure how that would work for eaxmple if you came 3rd but when points system was used you won the race.

Ok the planning starts

Some have suggested a two day weekend event what are your thoughts

Will talk to Council sports development to see how we can fit in and possibly blag some kit, will have a clearer idea of dates by Weds
11  Powerising / UK / Skegness July Event on: May 08, 2008, 04:52:45 PM
Ok

Early days so trying to get some idea on support

Dates : Probably 2nd week in July Saturday or Sunday

The Council Sports Development Team are running a number of Beach based sports such as Beach Volley Ball, Beach Tag Rugby etc, etc.

They are very positive about including Bocking if we want to have an event in Skeg.

Possible Options

1) Just meet & bock along the front
2) Have a days event in Skeg with some activities based at the Beach Sports Site
3) Have a two day event Day 1 at the Sports event, day 2 along the beach

What do you think ?

14  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: Anyone tried Bionic armour? on: April 20, 2008, 03:13:40 PM
I have the armour, including the back protection. It can get hot when you exert yourself.

However last week while trying to run fast, caught my springs and went into superman mode. Rolled over and slid down the road on my back. The shirt i was wearing is covered in holes where the road grit went through and my back armour is covered in scratches.  I just got up and carried on
15  Powerising / UK / Re: Lincoln Indoor TV Event on: April 19, 2008, 08:55:17 PM
All seemed to have a really good time, we modified the day as the basket ball hoops couldn`t be lowered. Some excellent tricking and jumping with 6ft ( whats that in metric ?)

I took some vid but I believe others did more (rancher)

Lockys crew took about 250 photos + vid so should be worth waiting for
