So, many would be left blank like the MSN or website columns.  But those who want to others to know where they are in order to get together would have their location listed.  No difference.  It is certainly much better than nothing.  The way it is right now, there is no easy way of locating someone.  The map feature is pretty useless.  I find it often doesn't work properly.

Even if you just knew what country they were in, at least you could PM them and find out if they are near you and want to get together.  At this point, you can't even sort by country.

i think most people do fill it in, but not with true stuff, as in '7th level of hell' etc..

Just because some people are immature doesn't mean a helpful feature should be left out.

I think simply adding a LOCATION column to the member list is all that would be needed.

Actually, I see no reason to have a "position" column.  I think a "location" column in it's place would be more helpful to everyone.

I'm not sure how that search helps find people in your area.  A search for "New York" produces tons of posts just referring to New York - but it doesn't help me find anyone.
64  Everything Else / General Talk / Red Arrows on: June 26, 2008, 06:47:33 PM
The Red Arrows flew rather low right over my house last evening in preparation for landing at our local airport.  Apparently, they are over here on a U.S. tour and had performed for the crowds near the Statue of Liberty earlier in the day.  Pretty cool.

lmao Bill, i have never heard of some one taking a piss with bocks on Shocked I bet thats a real pain, haha

Not too difficult.  Taking a dump would be more challenging and would probably create quite a splash if you could do it.  LOL

Wow.  Sorry to hear about the crash.  Really bad luck.  I hope Claire's injuries aren't as serious as they sound.  Take time to heal so you can properly get back into action.

I know this thread is about rain rusting parts, but a real treacherous place to walk on bocks is in a restroom.  I've walked across a dry restroom floor a number of times with no problem.  But once the beach season started and people with wet sandals started using the beach restroom, the floor got wet.  Not good.  Even taking tiny steps, a hoof slipped out from under me twice just walking over to the urinal -- but I managed not to fall.  (I kept thinking "Man, I'm glad I'm wearing a helmet! LOL)  And that was even with tiresocks on.  It was like walking on ice so be careful if using any restroom where some moisture might be on the floor.
68  Powerising / Problems / Re: Wierd break on: June 25, 2008, 12:07:22 PM
Your photos are way too large to properly view.  I really can't see where the break is, but if you are saying it is the tube under the foot platform that the side stabilizer cables are attached to -- then yes I have seen this happen.  XarnuSonic snapped his while jumping  and just got a replacement from the seller.

I don't now why yours would snap from just walking on them -- unless they were previously damaged and had a crack in it.  Did you buy them new or used?

Bocked with him this past weekend and he was still planning on making it.
70  Purchasing Powerisers / Where to Buy / Re: Sellers using photos from PoweriserPages on: June 23, 2008, 06:32:28 PM
Asking permission is only difficult after a collection of photos has already been compiled.  If you ask permission as you need them, it is very easy.  Retailers do not need a ton of photos - so asking permission would not be time consuming for them.  You only need a few photos to set up a website.

Just last week the company I work for was contacted by an attorney claiming that we were violating copyright law by using a photo on our website that we did not own.  The company selling this particular photo was billing us $4,000 for having used it on our website.  The fact is, we did purchase the rights to the photo back in 1999 for our company brochure -- which the seller had a record of -- but apparently our usage rights were limited in the fine print to just the brochure.  Because we convinced them it was an honest mistake, they settled for only $1,400 for past use.  We have now replaced the offending photo with one of our own and are sending out a check in order to avoid a court date.

I recommend sending out official notification to offending websites with an invoice charging them for PAST use of your photo, for whatever amount you want -- and no permission for future use.  Inform them that the next step will be in local court for payment.  I do not know how the court systems work in other countries, but that process seems to work in the U.S. and gets a company's attention.

Of course, if a company is bold enough to rip off a patent, they probably aren't going to care about your threat regarding a photo.

I'm wondering how easily it might be to add automatic coding into the gallery upload process that would kill the right-click option.  That is easy to do to individual photos on a personal website as I have done it, but in order to do it in the PP gallery, it would have to be automatic and part of that gallery's webpage code.  Still not impossible to get around if you know what you are doing, but not as easy as simply right-clicking.  Try right-clicking on the jumping logo on my www.PowerBockResources.com homepage.

Silly me thought everyone in France had one of these.

Beyond that suggestion, I'm afraid I can't help you.   Wink

Is a BMX tire a motorcycle tire, or a bicycle tire?  If bicycle tire, it may have good grip but will still eventually wear through.  I'm not sure I would want to permanently (if the glue works) bond a bicycle tire to my hoof.  You may need to replace the entire hoof in that case when the bicycle tire wears out.
73  Powerising / Where to Powerise / Re: Somebody Call Security!!!! on: June 22, 2008, 03:32:30 PM
I can understand being banned from some public places.  A person with their back turned to you will not expect someone to come running past them on bocks and may accidentally step in front of you, or a small child could suddenly wander in front of you.  Since you can't stop a bocking run on a dime, there is a chance someone like that could get hurt.  So I always try to look ahead to foresee potential problems in the course of a slow jog through a populated area.  But even doing that, I have had a few close calls with people criss-crossing in front of me and having to time my steps correctly.

Please provide us with updates as to how well the last once you start putting mileage on them.  I hope they work.  What kind of tire are you using?
75  Powerising / Where to Powerise / Somebody Call Security!!!! on: June 22, 2008, 02:35:16 AM
Sorry... Fairly long post.

Dominion and I met up with Vlad and his family at Jones Beach today to bock the boardwalk a little.  A couple of Vlad's friends tried bocking and they did very well for first timers.

Well, after Matt and I left Vlad, we were bocking back to the main mall area of the boardwalk when a beach official (I do not know his official position as he just had a walkie-talkie) told us we couldn't use our stilts at the beach.  (The sign only says "No Bicycling, skateboarding, or rollerblading.)  We didn't argue, we just said okay.  Then he got a real attitude and said "Don't just say okay.  Your going to get fined if you use them."  I told him that we had already had discussions about the stilts with security and they were fine with us using them.  His response was "Security isn't going to be the ones who ticket you, it will be the State Police troopers".  To which I again responded "Okay" and kept walking.

We are at Jones Beach so infrequently that the only way the State Police will ticket us is if some beach goer complains about us while we are there -- and at this point everyone we meet is just very curious and entertained by us.  So I am not worried about being fined.  The police would first ask us to leave anyway -- which we would immediately do if told to do so by the police.  (Likewise, if beach security had a consistent policy on this.  Who knows...  Maybe the issue will be raised at their next staff meeting.)

Just as Dominion and I reached the main mall area...  uh oh...  a golf cart full of beach security people came up from behind and drove up next to us -- and they all smiled and gave us the  thumbs.  LOL.  They asked us a bunch of questions about the stilts and Dominion gave them his card.  Then a woman from Newsday (a huge regional newspaper) asked us if she could film us for a series they are doing on their website about summer activities.  So we jumped and ran a little for her to film.

I'm sure the beach will eventually ban bocking from the boardwalk as the sport becomes more popular, just like they ban skateboarding.  But until then, if asked to leave by the Police I will explain that I cannot jog like others on the boardwalk because of the condition of my knees, which is why I have to wear knee braces.  The truth is I am only able to jog with the aid of my stilts because of the shock absorbing nature of the springs.  Might get a doctor's note as backup.  We'll see how that flies.

Any others have a similar experience with security?  This was my first time.  Personally, I'd rather talk to the troopers as they are not as power hungry as the summer job security hirees.
