Hehe - I leave you lot alone for one meet and look what happens! Smiley Tongue Grin

Hope you are both ok, and get better soon. Fractures hurt - had one of my own from bocking. Never had a dislocation, but looks as painful as a fracture, if not more so!

Now get better soon and get back on your bocks - i want a full team still there when I get back! hehe Smiley

3  Powerising / Problems / Re: radiobock! yes the gay welsh show. on: July 20, 2008, 09:28:40 PM
I do think the 'gay' joke may have reached its sell buy date though. Simpy saying 'its the welsh bockers way' , well can it go on? Is it good enuff? Peeps get told off for using 'txt spk' because many of the users of this site do not have English as a 1st language, others have been told off ( ie me) for refering to projumpforum as 'the other site' cos some people are left confused ( tho Im not aware of complaints when XB was refered to as the 'new site'  but hohum). Why should the 'gay' thing be any different?

So isnt it reasonable to say that many , new and long serving users, will be confused and indeed offended by the use of the word 'gay'.

However, I must comment here. As a homosexual, tho sadly very lapsed ( ie ravng celibate boohoo), I am a lil peeved that peeps automatically assume that being labelled 'gay' is a term of abuse or derision.

So I would suggest --others please comment, whilst the 'welshies  way is noted' for many it is no longer acceptable.
I agree it needs to be used in a way which is never derogatory, and that it might be taken wrongly by new members/members who dont know the welsh bockers.
I also see that it is now part of the language of the Welshies, and has lost all meaning to them, along with 'slag'.

I can see how the Sky High team are upset at Locky's comment on radiobock, but i can also see that to Locky this was not meant as an insult to anyone in anyway (maybe Rancher - but he knows the welshies). Ive listened to the show and I dont see that the welshies were laughing at either Ferret or Nero, more at Rancher for the accidents that happen around him.

Im not taking either side in this arguement, as all the people on both sides are my friends, and I am only posting in the hope that they can end the argument (in private please)

I think, as in the past, arguments need to be conducted in private, not on a public forum. This sort of argument online is not welcoming to new members, parents of children with bocks etc, and shows up what is actually a very friendly and caring community.

Capital bocking is not cancelled Locky, im not allowing it! Smiley
Sky High, you know how good you are as a team (so do I Smiley ) rise above any comments people ever make about you, individually or collectively, and keep bocking - show everyone what a great team you are!

This article is in Scouting Magazine June/July 2008

In the orange and yellow scarves is Stiff and Stilted, and in the pink and green scarves are EPB - plus any other scout who joined us that day. Mike Bushall, the TV presenter, is on the left side.

The article is written by someone from Scout HQ, who is now a member of EPB!

11  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Scouting on: June 27, 2008, 10:10:20 AM
As there are now a lot of powerbocking scouts, and I have again being asked to provide a group of Powerbocking Scouts for an event, I have set up an email address specifically for it.

powerbockingscouts [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk

please email on there or pm me your email address so I can make sure you get the information about the Scout event I have been asked to organise bockers for!
(can you also tell me in the email/pm which section of scouting you are in, and which county)

13  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: all about flips? on: June 25, 2008, 10:25:16 PM
I want to learn to flip, but i think i get more of a sense of achievement from learning other stuff!

I find the fact that people can jump up flights of stairs far more impressive than flips, cos I cant do it, and it scares me heaps more than flips do.

To non-flippers all flips look the same, where as jumping down and up stairs, doing trick jumps and jumping over objects all look different and can be made more difficult by changing the objects!

Yes flips are impressive, but the way I see it so is everything else we do on bocks!

Most people shout 'do a flip' cos they dont think people can actually do them, and most are just impressed by you jumping up and down!

I want to learn to flip as I love doing them on a trampoline and because I want to be able to do them, but I still think im gonna do more grabs and splits even if I ever learn to flip, cos they make better photos Smiley

15  Powerising / Videos / Re: Backflip attempts on: June 24, 2008, 10:10:45 AM
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys!

I think im probably gonna take one mat away and see if that helps! Smiley and I will pass the sliding mat thing onto the people at the gym.

Great Becky, hope everything goes well with your knee and health.
Just a pointer, use your arms from above your head will give more rotation when you tuck since long to short makes speed. Check this page: http://www.swebounce.com/backflip.php
Try on a trampoline first since new things can be confusing;)

Good luck and Im looking forward to see your next video.
Knee seems to be better now (i hope) thanks for the advice - gonna give it a go on the trampoline tomorrow and then another go on bocks next time i go to the gym Smiley

only 1 bad thing to say about that, and i could be wrong because its hard to tell, but it looks like on the back attempts you are looking down as you bounce, not sure if you are but keep it in mind if you are, i could be really wrong and you are ment to look down but i can't imagine it, apart from that, excellent job Cheesy
if i'm wrong just let me know, i don't mind it Cheesy
in a week or 2 we will be seeing the finished version with no mats right??
Right??  Huh
Im lookig down to start to make sure i am close enough to the mats, i look up for the last three bounces when im setting up for the flip. Hopefully it will only take me a few more goes in the gym, but knowing me ill still be trying this time next year! :p
