Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: Powerskip fixings

I've bolted shoes to pole stilts before - luckily, with those it's possible to put the screws in to the left and right side of the heel, whereas it appears that with the powerskips you can only put one in, straight in the middle.
The only piece of advice i can offer, is buy an extra insole, so you have the original one that came with the shoe plus your additional one between your foot and the metal.

Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Poweriser 2007 Vs. 7 Leagues
|
on: October 11, 2007, 01:29:12 PM
|
|
OK, so everyone knows the "league table" of bocks - PoweriZer, Poweriser, 7 Leagues, PowerSkips, but where do the 2007 model powerisers fit in to this?
Ignoring the calf cuff, which you can get as a spare part anyway, how does the '07 model compare with 7 leagues, which it seems will be in roughly the same price band once the 2007's are finally available?
Has anyone tried out 7 leagues with calf cuffs AND the 2007 powerisers for a fair, direct comparison?

Powerising / Problems / Re: what is the spring made of?
|

Carbon Fibre and Fibreglass as singular "ingredients" would be useless as springs - it would be like trying to bounce on springs made out of silk. So yeah, we're talking about GRP

What's really depressing is how long before christmas we start thinking about it at work. It's not right having planning meetings about december when it's gloriously sunny outside!

Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Calf Cuffs - Weight?
|
on: September 14, 2007, 11:37:34 AM
|
|
Hey guys, Quick question for those with '07 Calf Cuffs: How much do they weigh?
I might be able to get some sent over via the US, but I need to work out costs for posting a pair from the US to the UK, and nowhere seems to list how heavy they are. I don't imagine they can be particularly weighty, surely?
Cheers, -B

Powerising / Modifying Powerisers / Re: Taping the springs - new idea

Any restriction to the spring could only make it a little stiffer, giving you a higher bounce.
Bill C.
Too much wrapping, or wrapping that is too stuff, acts as a shock absorber, making your stilts less 'springy' and thus harder work to get the same bounce...

Powerising / Learning Tips / Re: Putting them on Standing up
|
on: September 04, 2007, 01:05:59 PM

The real art is taking them off whilst standing up - when you have nothing to lean against. I can just about manage to do this, but i tend to bock in walking boots that don't fit through the kneebar easily, so it can be a bit of a struggle. I imagine I look like a bit of an idiot when I'm doing it, but when I do it in front of other bockers and then challenge them to do the same, I tend to get the last laugh

Unfortunately, all my friends who do strange things like this don't live anywhere near me since I had to move due to work I'm yet to find anyone else quite as insane in the area, and doing strange and life-threatening things are really only fun if you get to make jokes about breaking bones with other like-minded people. ho hum...
