46  Purchasing Powerisers / Where to Buy / Re: A Bit of Advice on: June 17, 2008, 02:47:41 AM
They've sold over 1500 sets?   Huh   New Zealand should be overrun by bockers!   Cheesy  I'd also expect a certain percent of spring failures in over 3000 springs.  Sounds a little unusual to me.

You can do it either way.  I even folded my wires under for awhile.  Depending on how you jump and land, spins, etc they can slide off to the side a little easier with the wires cut off.  Could also depend on the width of the tire.

I want to know why people don't get a bike tire ...

Fantastic idea.   Wink

I could get some Airrunners (I think thats what they are called) from Australia but they would be like $670NZ or something which is a pain.

DO NOT buy AirRunners.  They have been discontinued because they have failures and are unsafe.  The foot platform is thin and has snapped in half.  You also will not be able to get parts.
50  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: What are those call on: June 15, 2008, 06:08:59 PM
I make it a point to refer to them as "jumping stilts" or "spring stilts" as the generic term -- and tell the curious (who are not actually interested in buying a pair) to simply Google or YouTube that term when they get home for more info on them.  It is easy for them to remember.

Nope.  Father's Day here in the U.S. also today.  Looks like the card companies organized this well.  lol.

Download the free RAD VIDEO TOOLS at http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm and then run the "Bink" video tool.  It allows you to convert a multitude of different video formats to whatever you need.  My daughter uses this to convert her camera's .mov files to .avi so she can import them into Movie Maker and edit them.  It also gives you different compression and codec options to choose from.

I'm guessing the frames will eventually be lightened up by taking a honeycomb approach in their structure, which will require less than half the amount of metal that is currently used in the frame and still remain strong.  I believe I have recently seen a honeycomb bicycle frame tube.

These aren't skateboards though.

The proper skateboards have hardly changed at all, the started as a plank of wood with 4 wheels and they are still a plank of wood with 4 wheels.

Well, then you are limiting what a "proper" skateboard is based on by your own very restricted definition.  You could apply the same narrow view to anything and say that nothing has ever changed.  The items in the links I provided are obviously meant to be forms of skateboards.  And they don't have four wheels.

and i've not seen anyone of those in the street or anywhere else EVER. Smiley

Show a picture of jumping stilts to most people in most countries and they will say the same thing.  Just because you haven't personally seen anyone use them anywhere doesn't mean they don't exist.  If you are saying that things don't evolve until most users chuck out their old design and start using a new design -- well, then I think that is a valid point when speaking about the broader market.  I do see your point there.   Smiley

Keep lifting your feet.  As you get tired, you'll tend to lift them less and less until you accidentally clip the ground with a hoof as you swing your leg forward.

Check out members Swebounce and Hemoves (brothers) who are two incredibly talented bockers in Sweden.  Also Zackiz is somewhere in Sweden.  Hopefully near you.

The sock-like knee pads often have velcro elastic straps to help tighten.  Having fiberglass knee braces, I just place the knee pad over my knee and only use the elastic velcro straps wrapped around to keep it in place.  Works great.  I imagine you would do the same in the case of calf cuffs.  I'd wear a knee/shin protector over the cuffs, not under them.

Happy B-Day from across the pond, Sprog!  Hope you had a great one.

And if he doesn't abide by the terms of the agreement he stands to lose his license to sell stilts altogether.
