Hey Bill,
That Bockweiser logo is great. I like it. Do you have any more please?

LOL.  Naaah..  Just thought of that one off the top of my head and thought I'd make it in response you yours.  Are you a graphic artist, Zipp?  Nice logos.

It's the angle of the photo.  You can't properly compare his height to the door frame which is closer to the camera.  Instead, look at his height compared to the actual door that is the same distance away from the camera as he is.  You can see that he is taller than the door, hence also the door frame.  You have to put it all into "perspective".   Cheesy

The only plastic in the new ones is the black plastic cradle they sit in where they contact the spring.

Well, that is quite interesting, because I have the original powerisers and swapped in the new '08 bushings and I got the black oil leaking out, also.  The thing is, there is no oil in the bushing as they are simple assembled in parts as you install them.  I also lubricated mine with a clear oil gel when I installed them, so my guess is the oil has reacted a little with the black plastic bushing cradle under it, or the black plastic is slowly wearing and basically black plastic dust is showing up in the bushing oil as it slowly works its way onto the outside surface of the stainless steel bushing.  It doesn't seem to create any real problem.

Ahh, internet drama...  Only on the internet can a French guy and a middle-aged American man get into a fight without meaning to.

Thanks, Frank, but I'm not middle-age yet.  I've got another 50 or so years to go before I reach that.   Cool

Well, it looks like you and I have started out on the wrong foot, Cantallian.  I'm sorry I read the tone of your post the wrong way.

Given that the chinese tend to talk total b*llocks, how much credence should anything they say be given?

This thread isn't about the advice the Chinese manufacturers give.  This thread is my advice to those newly purchasing the equipment not to make the mistake others have made by pushing down on their knee bars -- because you can bend them out of shape.  If you want to thumb your nose at my advice because you as a newbie think you know better than those who are much more experienced, feel free.  Stating that you push down on your knee bars on a regular basis with no ill effect is one thing -- but then to start twisting my advice into something meaningless just because it is mentioned in the Chinese manuals is just plain insulting.  But no problem, any newbie know-it-all like yourself isn't going to have to worry about me giving you, in particular, any advice or guidance anytime in the future when it comes to this sport.  Disagreeing is one thing.  Twisting my advice that is meant to help people and making fun of it is something else -- ESPECIALLY coming from a know-nothing newbie.  Good luck, pal.

You just beat me by seconds with that question, Coach.

Nice vid, Athoul.  The tricks were varied enough to be interesting, yet repetitive enough to be educational.  Thanks.  Very cool.

What happened that brought this up? Hopefully nothing bad.

Naaah....  Just noticed a lot of new people saying they were ordering or planning to order lately.  Figured it was a good time to warn against this practice again.  Apparently some models now mention not to do this in the instructions.

I have been doing that regularly. So far, the knee bar tubing has not been affected.
Are you sure that this is really a problem Bill, or does it take much more than a prod to cause any damage?

Depends on the brand.  Some seem to be more easily bent than others, but there have been instances in the past where one knee loop angle has been bent downward more than the other as a result.  Not a good practice.  Why do you do that regularly??

Okay, it seems we have a bunch of newbies getting their bocks soon and all are just out of their minds in anticipation of receiving them in the mail.  So I thought it a good time to again issue this warning:

When you take your brand new bocks out of the box and you finish weeping in happiness, DO NOT TRY TO FLEX THE SPRING BY PUSHING DOWN ON THE KNEE BAR!  You won't flex the spring much, but you do risk bending the knee tubing.

Seems everybody tries it.

Nice progress, Becky.  I think all you have to do is tuck tighter.  You'll get it.

I do not understand why nobody cuts the tire to the same size as the rubber sole and then attaches it using a powerful glue.

Because it doesn't work -- at least it hasn't yet.  But go ahead and try that Loctite and prove those who tried gluing wrong.  I hope your specialist is right.  But it isn't the pounding that breaks the hold of the glue, it's the shearing force.  The hoof doesn't hit the ground perfectly up and down.  There is some pushing (shearing) force from side to side and front to back as you plant your hoof while running and tricking.  That is what detaches any glued rubber in short time.

Car tire has already been done using various methods.  That was the first thing that was ever tried many years ago.  Bolting a tire piece on seems to work the best, though I have not seen any recent post regarding how they have worked out.  Steel belted tires are a b**ch to cut through.  Rubber-ply GoKart wheels are better to use.

Search the forum for hoof mods.  There has been a ton of discussion about them.  Pinning the tiresock to the front face of the rubber hoof does help prevent them slipping to the side.  I have been using two short nails.

Good luck with the Loctite.  Let us know how it works.   Smiley
