Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: Just starting out. PoweriZer Pros. Worth it for $200?

Agreed. They are fun, and you would look cool doing it, but there is no mechanical advantage above using plain old sneakers. This topic has come up before, and our conclusion was, if you keep trying to find exucuses to use bocks for transportation, just go ahead and get them. They are fun and worth it, even if you decide for yourself that they wear you out too much. On most models, your ankle is fixed into the stilt, so the only muscles you use are in your chest, stomock, and thighs. (sometimes your back as well, because of a tendancy to watch your feet). Unlike normal running, you dont use your calf muslces at all. If you truely are going to run (or at least comfortably jog) 5-10 miles a day, it would be wise to spring for the most expensive set you can afford. Cheap stilts dont last too long. Not just the spring dieing, but the footpad as well. You will spend more time fixing your stilts than actually using them. Just FYI. Hope all goes well!

you people and distroying bocks. They are mechanical masterpieces! Cheap, yes, but jumping stilts none the less. What if the only 'advertisment' for powerbocking was THIS video. The common person does not realise there are different quality levels when it comes to these things. They see this vid, see us on bocks, and automaticly think we are wasting our time.
Plus, the stilts I currently use are one of the cheapest and poorly made. (second or third from the bottom at least). I can speak from experiance that ANY stilt will work for at least a few good hours of awsome fun. All of this distruction is pointless, nerve racking, and down right sad. Not to mention, Its expensive.

one of the best examples is the footpad. When they were new, I could stop on a dime with them: bank to the rear and really shove the pad to the ground and stop in almost one step. But now I have to do it with 3-4 steps at least, becuase I know the pad will slip or skip. Same with the springs. They bottom out with NO effort anymore. Either they are cheap and have worn down, or I have gotten better and have left my springs behind in skill (I am still on the fence about breaking in springs, but with flying locust brand, i'll bet its both). Trying tricks is hard to land because I get almost no air (or so it feels) so the trick has to be fast. I bottom out the springs constantly, espesually when running. When I run too fast, the pads will slip when I bottom out, and then, death. lol. I guess to sum up my 'explination', the stilts are all around SHABBY, SLUGGISH, and UNRESPONSIVE. Anyways, more to follow with the comparison of better stilts. I have my eye on the $500 pair from xphub, though all my crap keeps breaking and I am finding it hard to save money for school, and eventually my own place when I move out.
Glad you liked the vids. I have a very pecular interest in music, and I try to show it off in all my work. (there are more bocking videos in there, just click the link above/below the 9 featured clips).

Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / The Limit of Flying Locust

I have had my fly jumpers for about 3-4 months now. They are awsome, though I am somewhat depressed I havent begun to flip or do decent grabs yet. I have recently discovered, however, that this is not due to a lack of confidance in the sport, but instead becuase of a lack of confidance in the stilts themselves. If you review my last vids, (youtube link below) you can see what progress I have made on them. Sadly, I have not progressed since. While I was at my peak when the vids were shot, my skill has now progressed, leaving my stilts behind. I would simply like to have an account for other users the full effect and usage you will get out of the cheaper brands. Granted, I am on the heavier side of the weight bracket (but still within), even though it is recomended to get the next class up in weight range. Never the less, the stilts have been great fun, and an awsome learning experiance. Simply put, ITS TIME TO UPGRADE!!!!! Also as a side note, the hooves are compleetly shot. Paying the extra cash for better stilts, from a 'hoofs only' standpoint. ITS WORTH IT!!! Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!!! Here is my youtube. Most vids are of powerbocking with my M90 Flying Locust / Flyjumpers. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=BalthezarArith

Purchasing Powerisers / Where to Buy / Re: BIG ASS TROUSERS

I started with some that were already huge on me. then added 'goddets' (ET's word...) to the sides and made them even bigger. Anyways, my starting place ended up comming from Target, though I agree with XS in that you wont be able to buy them flat out from any store.

I personally dont care if carbon fiber sucks or not. If it's cheap stuff, do what you tell EVERY NOOB here, and just get the next weight class up. anyways, what I got from the vid was that this is 'walking springs' as a sport. obviously, the springs are identical for each runner, with the 'limit' of not exeeding that of a normal human ankle. Might be the place to start for regular runners to race with bocks strapped to themselves. Maybe even have a combination of un-injured as well as amputated joggers compeeting together, with slight hardware changes. Finnally, bocking as a sport. Some here could beg to differ, that these ARE bocks, and that it already IS a sport. Anyways, you asked what I thought, there it is.
