2  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Good Evening. on: June 04, 2008, 03:38:56 AM
This is all Peter Duncans fault.
He just admited on camera that he forgot his promise infront of 50,000 people and on national tv! although at the time he denied it.

Possibly the most painful 5 minutes of those 3 summer weeks, It was blatant.

.......Thanks for the 8 pages of randomness guys, has helped pass the nightshift lunch break.

I'm Fulham based and could probably be tempted out on an evening around Bishops Park.

I'd take a guess any "blade runner" comments were not connected to the film but the South African athelete. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/disability_sport/4487443.stm)

How many faces did you recognise? Was a shame you couldnt make it. There were a few people on holiday that had to miss it Sad

Mainly yourself and Stiff'n'stilted faces at manchester (the trousers may have helped in their recognition), not enough coverage shown of MK but I think I may well have glimpsed a tigger suit...

nice use of an essex necker in the gilwell footage I saw Wink but whats the luminus pink and green one?
6  Everything Else / Powerising Stories / Re: Powerbocking Scouts on BBC1 on: March 17, 2008, 11:23:27 AM
Well done all, good bit of press coverage on both fronts. Bit gutted I couldn't join in but the holiday was already booked...even if I did then have to spend the time watching to see how many faces we recognised!

Transport Museam is in the square at Covent Garden.
8  Everything Else / Powerising Stories / Re: 7's bolt snaped off!!!!!! after 2 weeks on: November 12, 2007, 08:06:05 PM
yeh
i know noone will  but peeps should check their stilts from time to time for component intergraty- or simila spillin

Yeh, do 7's instructions tell you to check the fastenings before use?

Photos seem to show nylock nuts so would think its unlikely that the other one just worked itself loose, did you notice it was missing until the second gave way? (unfortunately with the blurry photos its not possible to tell whether its likely the bolt gave suddenly or had been weakening over time....mechanical geek..)
9  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: Army Bocker on: October 23, 2007, 06:10:30 PM
I'm soon off to apply to join the army and am fairly confident I'll get in so I was wondering:

I can't be the only army bocker?

Anyone know of any?

I'm TA, which is a valuable part of our armed forces these days.
10  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Christmas shopping on: October 06, 2007, 10:13:18 PM
It's not right having planning meetings about december when it's gloriously sunny outside!

I just thought its not right having them in September...it would have been nice to have had some of this glorious sun that you mention in september this year tho....
11  Everything Else / Anything Else Powerisers / Re: Powerisers in the news on: September 21, 2007, 10:55:41 PM
I worked on the rail for a while and I think the main danger is that if a 6ft + person stands on the edge of the platform and stretches an arm above and out his fingers can never get closer than 6ft ( I seem to remember ) from the overhead powerlines

Now on a wet day and with all the right conditions the power in those lines can jump 3ft so you have a 3ft safety margin

Yeh, I work in rail maintenance and 25 kV elec is nasty stuff, think the present recommendation is 9ft clearance and def no closer than 3ft for the reasons you say.

I know some transport staff can come across as morons sometimes but you'd get fed up with constantly explaining stuff if half the people you have to deal with give you sh** and don't listen anyway. Sad truth.
12  Everything Else / General Talk / Re: Theme park Scout Camp on: September 09, 2007, 10:05:28 PM
DangerMike is hopeless Smiley, and has come back from camp this weekend saying he met someone off here at the Scout camp  - Theme Park Camp - but he has forgotten your name already! Who was it??

Male or female would surely help narrow it down... It wasn't me tho as I was playing in the peak district instead of thorpe park, always preferred Alton Towers personally...
13  Purchasing Powerisers / Choosing the Right Model / Re: Upwing review by newbie (with images!) on: August 30, 2007, 03:05:04 PM
I did think from looking at early pictures there was going to be a problem for shorter people, 5'6" tho is going to right out quite a few people surely.
