So I just got a set of shiny new 2007 PoweriSers from xphub.com.  I had been using PoweriZer Pro's with the footplate bolted down.

Holy sh**!  I'm sorry PoweriZers, but I'm twice the bocker I was.  Granted that's not saying much, but it's a huge difference to me.  Running is fun now.  I can run one step per parking space, I can stop two-footed, I can jump higher, I can even stand still better.  I can't believe they only weigh a few ounces less (I weighed them) they feel so much lighter and more agile.  I feel like I can do anything I want on these.

What's the difference?  Well, to be fair, now I think I had the knee bars too high on the old set.  I feel like I have my knees back -- now I walk like a seven-foot person instead of a Japanese robot.  I think being able to put the legs closer together helps too.

But also it feels like they're balanced differently, weight on the midfoot instead of the heel.  I can't tell if that's due to the cuffs or something is different about the frame -- when I put them side by side I can't see much difference at all -- but it feels a lot more natural.

The springs seem softer on the new set, comparable to how the PoweriZer springs are after a few months of breaking in.

One thing I do notice as I handle them is that the weight of the new ones is higher in the stilts: if I balance them horizontally by holding the spring at one point, the balance point of PoweriZers is right at the heel, whereas on the PoweriSers it's 2-3 inches higher.  Mostly due to the metal kneebar holder and the plastic footplate, I guess.  But that might be why they feel lighter: the higher the weight is, the less angular momentum you need to swing it around, the easier they'll be to handle.

Lastly, I have to say that the PoweriZers have developed a lamentable amount of play in the joints in the few months since I got them.  The top joint and the two front footplate joints are all loosened, and it adds up to about 1/4" lateral motion in the heel.  This sucks.  I know I should take them down and fix it; now that I have another set to bock on I hope I will.  I don't know if the PoweriSers are going to have that after I've used them this much, but right now it's nice to have tight joints for a change.

Overall, two thumbs up for the PoweriSer 2007!   I'll buy cuffs for the Pros when I can, and do Mountainman's mod to the footplate, but for now these are my new best bocks.

Thanks for your review, it is always good to get an impession from someone who can compare two different pairs because he actually owens to pairs.

And I fully agree the differences you see often afer some use (esp. play of joints). That is the reason why a review afer two days of use does not tell everything. Let us know how the PoweriSer do after a while.

By the way, I think one major thing is always the spring character, this makes (to my experience) a huge difference. Spring is IMHO the most important part.

I just got 2007's as well and i definately agree about most of these points, especially the weight feeling farther forward on the foot plate, I think that's because the way i have the cuffs, my leg is farther forward than it could be with the knee bar, and i think that has improved my balance.

Obviously it also means that springs are definitely NOT interchangeable between these two models.
I think I might have to disagree there, as tundraH and bmthbloke both have PoweriZer Pro Carbon Fibre springs fitted to poweriSer frames. Smiley

Yes, the regular carbon springs fit into other brands (I used the 7s for some testing). But the new carbons for the new model will be different shaped and not interchangable.

And I tested in Palma the carbon springs from bmthbloke. I tend to think he does not have the FlyJumper carbons!!!! Sorry to say that, I suspect these are fakes. First mine look different (the surface and structure) and the character is totally different from bmthbloke`s springs. bmthbloke`s springs are stiff like a steal beam and absorb 90% of the investet energy.

Where did they order them?

I got mine from http://www.xtremeimportz.com/ (user chronicbarbarian here in the forum). Since Austria is not pantent protected it was no problem to order them, and they had a good price.

I just chatted with bmthbloke. He is sure that he also has the carbons. But I do not understand the character difference at all. Mine are 80kgs and his are 90kgs so the difference can not be that enormous.

Strange, strange, strange

Yes, I see now that that's true.  Don't know how I got the wrong impression before, I must have measured wrong.
