I'm going to start templating and designing custom poweriser pants, with Electroluminescent wire running down the striped seam on each pant leg.

I ordered the wire, and i'm going to go buy the fabric in a few hours, after I finish my final.

Smiley I'll have photos for it in a week or two. Smiley

Anyone have any ideas, or advice, or questions about preformance geared clothing and accessories?  I'm kinda curious to see what poweriserpages as a collective whole can come up with.

In-built pedometer?

Other than that no comments other than good luck and can I have a pair? Smiley

i can't imagine a pedometer would be very effective, on powerisers...

But, i'll definitely include a pocket or three.  There'll be a concealed inner pouch for the drivers for the EL wire, with a lot of strong velcro so that the pants can easily be washed without the elctronics inside.

I'm going to template the pants, and make added instructions for length and waist size.

I'll also take LOTS of photos, and document it well.

Who knows, if I find it profitable enough, i may just order some bulk supplies, and make a "small-medium-large-xlarge-custom size" bracket, and sell them online.

i have a question.

buttons? elastic? how are they gonna stay around the waist? are you gonna do a drawstring kinda thing like on joggers, or maybe a built in elastic belt kinda thing?

Good idea dominion, I am sure we will give you good feedback and ideas for this venture.

A little protection in the knees and the bum Wink
What about having a zipper?  With the zipper closed they can be used as normal pants, when you rise the zipper the pants return wider and they cover the Powerisers

I'm still in the design phase of it, selecting proper fabrics, and velcro's, I've been tossing around the idea of fitted ones, with a decent belt loop, but i may just go with either a drawstring waist, or an integrated clip belt, that is adjustable.  I'm leaning towards this option.

As far as zippers go,

This is great, Jesu!  Smiley Except, i'd want them to go a little lower, to cover the feet and binding clips.  This would present a problem, as far as zippers go.

Maybe i can use some of my creative skills, and come up with a hybrid pair, that allows both vertical and horizontal adjustment.

My first prototype, is going to be a plain pair.

Try putting a couple straps with a snap or buckle around the bottom of the pants. If you want the extra length, undo the snap and the pants will hang down further. Need them shorter, pull them up a little and snap them in place.
The length of the snap can be on the inside so it's hidden when the pants are at the longest length.

Just an idea Wink

Hehe, thanks for the input.  I have so many pairs of pants already though, that i don't think i'm going to develop a hybrid pair anytime soon.  For now, i'm going to work on a pair, specific to powerising.  I can always use the template i'm in the process of making to make the hybrid pair easier to make.

By the way, my EL wire came today!  It's VERY bright, and i can't wait to tackle the challenge of sewing it into the pants seam.

I'll post up some images in the next few days.  I have templates fully drawn up and all the materials gathered, and most of the pieces backed and cut out.

This is my first venture into sewing, but i'm quite good with numbers and design so it shouldn't be a big deal really.

Overall, it has cost me about 60.00USD and about 10 hours of labor and planning.
So, there will be no limited production run of these being made by myself... lol

I used about 6 yards of fabric for the legs, and about 5 more yards for the seams, and other panels that are not visible.

I learned how to operate a sewing machine in about 45 minutes, and how to iron correctly,
and that fabric must be washed and ironed before it is trimmed to be used in clothing design.

I also learned that if you back fabric, you increase its tensile strength, and also it makes the back side of the fabric much softer as well.

Part of the 60.00 i spent was also on materials, that dont need to be bought every time.  I had to get scissors, and other items that i didnt have.

Fabric, velcro, and zipper, and fasteners ran me about 40.00 USD.

I'm going to try to attempt to finish these tomorrow when i get out of work.

Wish me luck!

::Thinks::

I could probally cut and sew a pair in roughly 4 - 5 hours, with a waist of 30-36 inches, adjustable with bungee cord type materials.

Well, at least now that the whole template is done, and i took care of all the logistical end of it, now is just the manual labor part.
