Hello All,

I work for POWERade in New York and I'm having an event called the POWERade Pro Challenge.  I was recently in Boston when I met some POWERISERS and thought this would be an incredible addition to my event.

The event is free and open to the public and will take place on Saturday, June 7th at Flushing Meadows Corona Park from 10a-4p.  Two radio stations will be sending their promotional team - POWER 105.1 (Hip Hop) & 1050 ESPN (sports).  I'm also trying to secure an athlete to make an appearance so there could be some great media coverage which would be great for all POWERISERS!!!

If you are interested in coming, please e-mail me at Mizzvmr@aol.com to confirm.

Thanks to all and I hope to see you there.

Bill, Get ahold of vladislav!

Will do.  He had been waiting for his new bocks to arrive.  Somehow they got lost in transit from China.  Will check tomorrow with him if he has received them yet and if he can make the Powerade event.

(If he hasn't already read this.)

Vlad, Contact me if you'd like to arrange this, in case your stilts don't get here in time!

I've decided not to attend the event.  I listened to Power 105.1 FM this morning and this type of station spews urban hip-hop gangster rap-type "music" that sends the wrong message to young people.  Much of the music they play promotes and glorifies disrespectful behavior and is totally degrading towards women.  Apparently the DJs and station management are okay with that -- as must be the Powerade people and Coke.  Sorry, but there is no way I'm going to spend my day bouncing around while having to listen to purely destructive anti-social crap being blaired over a PA system.

I just think that kind of music is stupid and kids should make up their own minds, but that has nothing to do with me going or not.  I'm not going because it's too far.

I'm going to take a listen to the radio station some time tomorrow, when i'm commuting.

I haven't received any word from Vanessa however, and i'd left her a detailed E-Mail.  I'll give her another 24-48 hours to contact me, before I don't bother waiting around for any more information.  There's no reason to associate ourselves with that kind of culture, if it is as bad as Bill says it is.  Bad PR is not the kind of PR that we want, however I haven't heard of that radio station ever, but I'm willing to listen to it for a little bit, to formulate my own opinion before passing judgement.

The irony is that Power 105.1 radio is incredibly inappropriate for kids.  It's just appalling that Powerade has chosen to include the station in this event.

I don't know how kids were when you were young, but words like "incredibly inappropriate" almost guarantees that kids want to be involved.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of rap at all, but it's what kids ages 6-24 are listening to.  I look forward to the first pair of 'risers with spinners, ground-effects, and a horn that plays "la cucaracha", though I may be mixing up my east coast and west coast stereotypes...

Well, unfortunately, I can't make my point any clearer here because in order to do so I would have to link you to the website page with lyrics -- and there are very young bockers using this forum, so I won't be doing that.  Trust me...  when I say inappropriate, I mean nothing short of verbal rape.

But if you're just saying that's the way the world is these days Bill and to just get used to it, then let's take  off all the word and content restrictions from this forum and just post whatever vile we want to say to each other -  no matter what age the recipient is.  After all, who cares if kids of any age are exposed to that stuff.  Is that basically what you're saying?
