We had a multi-cultural week at uni last week, and part of it was a carnival, which i walked on my powerisers. But after they allowed a small group of us to play with fire - poi, juggling, staffs, firebreathing etc.

They actually let me use fire poi whilst on my powerisers! not sure id recommend it tho - trying to stand in the same place whilst sliding round on paraffin covered concrete wasnt easy, especially when concentrating on what the fire poi were doing at the same time!

As I dont have fluff on my powerisers, i was more worried about melting the foam round the knee bars!

Paraffin is the stuff to buy, it burns with a cool flame so you can catch the end and quickly let go and it doesnt burn you. Very good for if it breifly brushes against you or you catch a fire torch round the wrong way!
You can get it in B&Q, it's about a gallon tub of it, which (if there's only you doing it) should last you aaaaaaaaages.

A few rules to remember are:
Practice with them unlit first
Always spin them off before lighting them, as you don't want flaming paraffin flying off everywhere.
After use, always soak them and shake them off, it stops the wick drying out and lasts longer.
Keep them in a plastic bag or something, as you don't want to be getting soot and paraffin residue over everything. Ideal place to store them would be in a garage or shed.
