hey guys, this is nothing to do with bocking at all really Roll Eyes but i thought i may aswell share it with everybody so you dont miss out.

The Perseids is one of the most watched meteor showers through out the year and this year is expected to be one of the best this century. The shower is caused by dust particles off Comet Swifft-Tuttle that come through our atmosphere at over 132,000 miles per hour causing a longstreak of light to trail behind them.

The shower has recently started on July 17th and will continue untill about the 24th August, with the peak shower on the 11/12th of August where an expected 80-100 meteors every hour are predicted between 11pm on the 11th till about 3am on the 12th. Although the moon will be at it's brightest on the peak, it will soon dissapear leaving a dark sky for viewing about midnight. Scientists believe that after 3am we will expect up to 100-300 meteors every hour or more with some luck.

Happy watching

I believe these are hemispherical, so not sure the Aussie contingent can see them, but I could be wrong.

Ahh man, that sounds awesome... I think I have only ever seen a meteor once!
Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely be checking this out... with some psychadelic music and drugs!

EDIT: it seems that although people in the southern hemisphere can enjoy the show, it is not quite as prolific as what is viewable in the northern hemisphere due to the the path of Swift-Tuttle's orbit!

as long as their are clear skies and your looking in the right place, you should be fine but for better results try and look where there are no light destractions or light pollution.....th countryside is best for this get...........it should take about half an hour for your eyes to adjust to the darkness...............and remeber to pack up warm with reclining chairs and a hot drink

I would recommend some spiked hot chocolate and a biscuit or two.

Why is he running Dad ?
Because we have to chase him .
But he didn't do anything wrong !
Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector . A Dark Knight.
