for the sake of curiosity, who is the spring slayer? PS-Weber?

I start to ask myself why some people break everything. I mean we know people who break every spring or frame. But some of these people are average jumpers or beginners. I have not heard of many professionals who have bended frames regularely but some beginners have. Could it be that wrong treatment (by beginners and average users) is more dangerous to frames and springs than heavy usage by a pro?

just wondering

I've met Tundrah and you can tell why he's the spring slayer.. Awesome bocker for jumping, you can almost hear the springs begging for mercy every time he jumps.. Grin .. And K's a bit like that as well ..LOL

Well this is my favourite thread there's alot of underlying humor in here as you read it.. But no one hopes Dome gets it right more than me.. i'd subscribe to this thread, priceless

hehe,
exactly martin our spring slayer is Ps-Weber.  Grin
And he might not be the one who makes flips, he's not the one who knows a bunch of tricks. But with its 70 kilos or that like, he's real a beast. He's making big distances on his stilts and still is jumping, jumping, jumping and pushing it's springs downwards.
One further reason why Ps-Weber is such a spring slayer, is his faivored move that is to spring from an obstacle, but not to use the power to jump back up. Instead to release the power of the springs to jump back up, he's consuming its energy. (soory i don't knwo how to explain this a better way)
But to bounce this way is what springs do real not like, seen they have to absorbe lot of the power, instead of giving it back.
Talking about wrong assembling can be excluded, seen they have been assembled at my place. And as i wrote i want our springs to be able to survive spring slayers. So i'm real glad about Ps-Weber and his services to serve us as dynamic testing device. ;-)

Have fun, jump high, says Dome

I am officially a Spring slayer at least I have one spring under my name now,
I broke a spring that was rated for M60 (130 pounds) (Carbon Fiber) it was purchased from http://www.xtremeimportz.com/
On my other forum it was purchased in 2208, lol (See My first broken spring)
I paid $180.00 and they where purchased on 6-17-2008 the funny thing is the left one always felt a little softer from the start and I finally broke it when landing a hard jump with all my weight on the left leg only.
It was a weird feeling as it went Crack and then it immediately bottomed out on me.
Good news is they did honor the replacement and I expect the new spring set same class M60 sometime next week as they are sending me 2 new ones they said.
I think the right one is still fine as it looks OK.
I did not remove the cover from it though and I am going to keep it as a spare for now just in case.
As they said I should replace both so,
I will put the 2 new ones on so they will be the same stiffness.
I did however put a lot of (miles on them) I bet it was every bit of 50 or so as I went a lot of places around town on them some trips were up to 4 hours and covered a range of 6 miles round trip.
I will be able to jump a little higher I bet as they will be stiff and new again.
My challenge now is to see how high I can get and if I break another one, lol
Now just a quick dumb question how could I have broken this spring if weight was not an issue?
I only weigh 97 pounds at the most now?
I do however have strong legs as I am an avid speed skater (roller bladder) I compete on the Hard wood floors and have won several competitions in the past 3 years got 1st through 3rd places.
On my best jump I can only get about half way down if jumping and landing on one leg at a time.
Now if I jump on both and land on both I only get about 1/4 the way down on my best jumps.
I recently had a chance to try on a pair of (Teen) F60 (130 Pound Max) stilts.
They were from www.Air-Trekkers.com
On the (Teen) stilts I can bottom them out easily if jumping on one leg at a time on hard jumps.
But on both legs I only get about 3/4 the way down almost ready to bottom out on a hard two leg jump.
Hope this helps to prove if I did really have a bad spring or not?
Thanks ahead of time for any ideas as to how to (break a spring) this way I can make sure I got the right (M60 Springs) for my weight, strength and ability.

either ur spring was faulty from the start or u hit it really hard against something else.  at ur weight and only compressing it 1/4 of the way down there is no way it broke because of ur use

Haha,
If we’re talking about spring slayers around here, then we’re talking about people who’re breaking several springs within a few month’s. And we’re not talking about people able to bottoming out a child’s type, but of 70 Kilo dudes who’re bottoming out thje most heavy springs one can get.
Further more I have been called as pedantic, due to the fact I don’t like it, when these Chinese springs are called “carbon springs”. But I think to have good reasons to be “pedantic”, when chinese springs are mentioned at the same breath with mystery springs. Or should I like it, when cheapo springs are ranged into the basket of mystery springs?!
Sorry but I don’t and so one more time: Mystery springs are at this time the only carbon springs existing! (home made single pairs excluded)

Oh dear, what a sh**ty day…..
So today we had our first day of training at a circus school and our teacher had an accident on the motorcycle, so we have been there without a trainer.
And one of our group has been an experienced athlete and so I  told him to check out my mystery’s. he had 75 Kilos of weight, so he as well has been one to heavy for these springs. Nothing less I asked him to try them out, seen one can feel the difference of mystery’s even when overcharged. First he had it’s doubts, seen he would overcharge them, but I did convince him to try them out.
AND HELL!!!!!! He just took a few steps with them and right away made a barani on them. But what a f@ck….. Exactly at the time he stood on my mystery’s our cam made troubles and so we all missed it to take all these flips and Baranis from him on video. Ohhh what I’m hot… I’m so damned hot about….. the first flips and Baranis on mystery’s and we don’t get that on cam….. But I asked him to come over one time more, so he could give them a further try and we could get our videos. So Videos of mystery’s an baranis are final in sight.
First he have been soooo skeptic about them, he showed no interest at them at all and I real had to push him to try them out. But as always when people are getting a try on mystery’s, he changed very quickly about that. One more time 3 customers for mystery’s made, just within a few minutes. He called them incredibly smooth and so one more who gets exactly the same sight about them, as all the other users who did try them out.

Yes, that's right,
nothing new since 3 months. this is due to the facts, that we had big troubles with building permissions for our shop, so we had to look around to find a new shops space, while fighting at the same time to get the permissions where we planed to open the shop at the beginning.
Further more, there has been 3 more types of higher weight classes meanwhile, but they did not hold the tests. So we had to make new upper brackets first to keep the shape of the 60 kilo spring, which we did change at the higher classes due to frame issues.
The new upper brackets I did receive end of last week and actually our spring maker did receive those and is busy to make the next pair of mystery’s that would be made that time for 8o kilos. At the same time we’re working on new bearings and new bushings as well and to test the bearing set we’re working on, we’re making new foot levers as well. This all did come out of the mystery project and as you all probably would be able to imagine, such things needs time. Further more they do need cash as well and I’m not in a situation to spend all the cash needed for at one time, so this slows things down as well somehow.
But don’t worry, mystery’s will come and we’re still going forward on them. For my part I’m already happy to finally found one to make flips and baranis on them and who’s not living to far away from me.
