So yesterday Athoul invited me down again to go bocking since we both had nothing to do that day. I took my inflatable mat since we're both trying for flips and on one of my attempts I landed on my feet and fell back onto the mat. Unfortunately i had my hands out as you do when falling backwards, and landed funny on my right hand thumb. I managed to drive 2hrs back home and even managed to get through today trying to carry out the most basic of tasks without my dominant hand. I know have a new found respect for disabled people and their carers since I just about failed to do everything from ripping off loo paper to opening a bottle or even an envelope!

Anyways with my thumb swollen and delicate I went to the A+E tonight. The x ray shows its fractured on the inside of the knuckle area of the thumb. I have to go back monday to see a hand doctor (they didnt appreciate my free hand job joke, lousy overworked, underpaid nhs staff) and I think the chunk that has splintered off he either wants to get back on or just remove it.

Bottom line is I am out of action for a while.
I'm also whinging like a girl in the big brother house. Everything is a monumental task and hurts in the long and frustrating process Sad

and yes I was wearing my pads. I have the incident on video but it looks like any other flip attempt I've done (see the portsmouth vid).

owi!  Poor you Locky Sad  They will probably just put your hand in plaster, thats what they did when I chipped off a bit of my elbow.  I think they just hold it close to your hand and it fuses back on.

I wont be out for long...few days. I'll be on my bocks this weekend for the cardiff thing but bouncing isnt really going to happen for me. Basically as soon as I can swing my arms around again without it hurting then I'll be back on them.

Right now i cant even give the chavs the middle finger without it hurting. Oh wait, I can use my left hand for that Cool

Wow that sucks soooo much. Bad luck mate. I had a chip taken out of my thumb about 6 months back (not bocking obviously as Im a noob). They just left it in there but then if they are thinking about removing it Im better you took a bigger chunk out of it than I did. On a pluss note they piled me full of painkillers cos my tendons were stretched over the sharp nic left where the chip came out. So yeah feel the painkilling love!

Heal fast Locky!

I remember when I broke my thumb in a fight.  Punched the guy out as he held up his Lacrosse stick.  Thumb hit the stick, he hit the ground, and that was the end of the fight.  The thumb hurt like hell when I went back into the house and soaked it for about a day.  Turned purple and green, and I knew it was broken.  Six weeks with my preferred hand (preferred for what?) in a cast was not fun.

Feel better.
