Greetings everyone, I'm new to the forum. I made my way over here as I just happen to have a  pair of Powerisers on my way over here shortly. Smiley (wee)

Anyway. As I've been surfing about here a little now It seems obvious that the stock product isn't flawless, and that it should need some modification in order to last longer/be more comfertable.

any hints/tips on what the first few things I should do to them before I start using them?

also: Are these safe to use even when raining?

I wouldn't reccomed use when raining as you probably will get a serious injury from a fall.

First of all, you need pads but you usually get some with the risers depending on what you buy/where you buy from. Next go to eBay and buy some hockey tape, this is a bit like tennis grip if you don't know. You'll need two or three layers on the bocks so make sure you buy enough. I then bought some red electrical tape and covered mine with it to make it look cool.

At the moment lots of people are promoting tyre socks which is a strip of tyre on the bottom of the powerisers to add more grip although you will probably need to recieve the bocks for measurements etc.

I do a lot of night rising and if you do want to do that attach a bicycle light on (can tape or fasten with an olympic clip) and this helps people/cars see you and looks pretty cool.

Thats all i can think of but if you really want to mod the poweriser for fun there is a lot more.

The essential modifications have to be:

Tyre socks: http://www.geocities.com/powerisertiresocks/

Taping the spring: I have put a bike inner tube on then duct tape then electircal tape for decoratinon and it works v. well.

Any other modicfications you should check out Bill.C's site:

Hope this helps

you can usually get hockey tape at any sporting goods store, or possably a hardware store? as far as rain...i wouldnt go out if it is pouring because i dont know if the powerisers will rust, but if your tire socks have good grip, i think it would be ok to go out when the ground is wet, i have done it before, but i was nervous the whole time

i dont know if the powerisers will rust

the frames are made of aluminium which doesn't rust, but the hardware, nuts, bolts, etc, is prolly steel, which depending on the grade might rust, and knowing their dislike for expensive materials, i doubt they put stainless steel hardware on them, no reason to really, just don't use them in the rain.
