I do not think there are any patent issues about the cuffs. I do not know of any calf cuff patent (is there one, who would hold that?

Jeff Jay, made the original calf cuff for the velocities ?

I know that he made them, but is there a patent, that is the question. I have not heard of any.

We were told they were not for sale in the UK due to patent issues, so we can only assume he holds a patent on them

Ok that might be an explanation. But it might also have been an excuse/explanation why Poweriser was not willing/able to sell the calf-cuffs to UK. The calf-cuffs where not built/ordered/designed  by Poweriser itself but by the German importer (!) as far as I know. So maybe the German importer was simply not allowed to sell to UK or USA since there other importers had an exclusive contract with Poweriser. This is only a guess (anyone may correct me) but sounds also reasonable to me. Since the German company immediately sold the calf-cuffs to many other countries when they were launched, but not to UK.

First tests and pictures published in German forum. Attention: still a prototype so not the final version. The model will be called "Olympic" in Germany

http://www.speedjumper.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1388
it is a prototype therefore no spring protection
current version has a knee bar but calf-cuffs (similar to PR) will be available
the proportions have changed (e.g. footplate is higher and bar which connects footplate with spring is longer) therefore the spring travel is 30cm longer than on any other current model
prototype has no hooves (so for test the old Up-wing ones where used) which will be different
fibreglass and carbon mixture is used for the spring
NO tilting footplate
no launch date of the model was stated (we`ll have to wait)
they are very light

since I have not tested them I do not want to comment or guess any pros or cons. Here some comments from users:

jump feeling and reachable height seem to be great according to testers (no surprise to me since already with the former Up-wing version the feeling was very good)
feeling is described as closer to trampoline feeling than with any other stilt

Cheers martin, they look really interesting... Not too sure on the thinner cross section of frame between the footplate and the hoof, will be good to see how that holds up...

Have they abadoned the tilting footplate?
