I'd reccomend picking up a pair of gloves, if you havent done so already.  A nice spill on the concrete will tear off your palms.

Dear Diary,

Well todays the day I plan to make my maiden voyage. I'll start by getting decently strapped up and then I'll attempt to stand.
I've been on  's before for all of 10 minutes so I'm treating this as a whole new thing to learn.
I'll be in the garden so theres walls I can lean on and a bench I can sit on. I plan to film the whole thing just because, maybe Matt could use it somewhere for promotions / training purposes. The other purpose of it is so hopefully other forum members can point out any faults in my technique - I dont want to start any bad habits so criticism is wanted please!
As for running & jumping - learn to walk first methinks!

Its a beautiful sunny 3pm on Saturday so after all my morning chores I think I'm being well rewarded!

Write soon,

Lukey

Dear Dairy,

I'm giving up.... only joking! Well that was fun! Shaky to start with but got used to it after a few mins. I dont know if anyone elses did this but mine were really squeeky! After a spray with DW-40 they softened up and stopped squeeking and I could feel a slight cushioning with each step as u should do.
Took it to the street for a few feet but fiund when able to step properly - outside the garden (4 paces wide) I found myself stutter occaisionally and thus I start to run/stride faster to compensate. Severe threat of hitting the floor was the reason for this I think - despite being padded up.
Returned to the safety of the garden to practice standing up after a fall. Having studied Dominion's footage I thought this would be fairly easy, alas no!

Going down the park with a mate now so catch u later on.

P.S. Just realised I was recording at 15fps and thats being annoying to edit!!

Dear Diary,

After my 5:30 post I called my mate up to see if he wanted a go on them down the seafront. One part of the seafront is a quarter-mile of well kept grass with one long straight path through the middle for the length of it - perfect lands for learning to cycle, worked for me  Grin!
So yes we got there and I started out showing how to pad up etc and gave my mate a brief rundown of what NOT to do and we began. Again I've got footage of this which I'll edit at some point.
For a new user of the he picked it up really quite quickly, he had the essentials and balance worked out in about 10 minutes and was walking around, unaided, about 5 mins afterwards! So well done Neil, "its easy once you know how" he said.

I tried my hand at running but I find I'm just walking a bit fast whereas Dominion's running across parking spaces makes it look quite effortless, how can I acheive such results?
Also I'm trying jumping - well you just gotta - but I cant seem to actually bounce, I just look like a kid having a tantrum! hahahah!

Dear Diary,

Today me and a few mates who also went down the pub today and in their massive beer garden spent about 5 hours bouncing around and having a right giggle.
Two of them do circus skills so were juggling with knives, clubs and balls and diablo-ing too.

The basics of jumping were explained to me along with how to run/stide.

Contrary to how I was thinking for running its more of a leaping technique where you push from the back foot to lauch you in a slight diagonal direction. Its also a steady smooth action, whereas running on legs is fast steps  's are slow and gradual - I guess this is due to how much ground your covering. I can only imagine that REALLY running on these you must cain it along! Websites + box say 20mph?!

Oh dear! How funny would that be to set off a speed camera doing it?!

Now for Jumping that too is a different thing. Essentially you jump as normal BUT as you go to land you bring your knees towards your chest then the SLAM DOWN. My thinking for this working is...

Quote from: Lukey's Book 'o' Physics
An agressive jump works because it adds together the kenetic energy from gravity to the potential energy contained in the downwards force of your feet being forced down from the height you acheived when your needs were brought towards your chest. This then hits the floor witha combined force of x newtons which is then taken in by the springs. As these springs flex they then re-distribute this energy in a vertical movement. At the peak of this movement, repeat as necessary until your springs bottom out.
Please note that bottoming out means any excess force will be absorbed by the body, most likely your back like my mate found out earlier!

As promised, at last I have some pictures!! Wont upload video yet as MOV format is massive for what it is, lame.

Woah, just realise that the pics below are MAHOOSIVE! Mods do feel free to resize, this is how they came from the camera.

Dear Diary,

Today is the first day that I've not used my Powerisers. I'll probably go on them tonight but fancy the gym instead.

One thing I've noticed today is that my body is aching slightly. This isnt uncommon with any strenuous exercise but I'm "feeling it" in my abs, Gluts & inner thighs and upper back.
I'm guessing my back is tense because I'm hunched with anxiety whilst I'm on them, legs i'd understand also but why gluts and abs?

Does anyone else feel this?

the gluts and abs will certainly be affected due to them having hand in the skill of balance....

ive even felt that the lats are working alittle also

Yeah, i'm definitely feeling my abs, and lats while powerising.  It has to do with the weight of the powerisers, and the fact that most people lift their legs, and bend at the knees slightly when jumping.  The added weight and inertia is working your abs and lats.  It's a nice side-effect of powerbocking.

Dear Diary,

I must say I've been neglecting my  's lately, not been on them all week save for a 5 min demo and to get met more WD40 On the springs, this time on the top clip for the spring.

I'm bringing them to work so I can play in the park tomorrow during lunch. We're having some most fortunate weather lately so may as well make the most of it! Plus the girlfriend wants a go on them over the weekend so that'll be a laugh!

Been to the gym hard last night and then karate so my legs feel like slabs of mutton, still, gotta push yourself so I'll play on them tonight down the seafront again.
I know the more I use them the quicker they'll soften up so here's to it!

Smiley awesome! Let us know how your girl does.  I keep trying to get mine to give it a go, but she's a bit afraid of falling.  I'll probally convince her to give it another try tonight.

Dear Diary,

WOW! Today I had my first REAL flooring! Bonjour la concrete! I've attached the pictures.
I tell you, the feeling and new sence of trust you get for your pads is something else, really very unique. I hit the deck thinking "Oh no, thats IMPACT! Here comes the pain! 5...4....3... oh, oooooh wait, thats nice!" and then looking to my wrists thinking "I AM INVINCIBLE!!" like Boris - minus the liquid nitrogen of course! But yeah that was my first real fall! Theres a lovely skid mark from the wrists and the tracksuit I was wearing looks like I've had a railgun through each knee but its cool cos I had my kneepads underneath. I've now adopted them as "My Powerising Trousers".
My Powerisers took some damage though, the kneebars have been grazed - they'll be covered by wrapping as somepoint anyway. That said, maybe I'll leave that section exposed / clear wrapped for posterity!

We had a nice audience throughout the evenings session which added a nice feeling to the occaision. Its really nice to have that, you dont get it with many other activities.

One other thing I really must mention is that I was a touch sceptical about the impact on the knees but really after a good few hours on concrete its PRwalking back to the car I realised that there wasn't the pain you'd expect to have after such a workout. That too was a unique feeling.

Its as if these are changing my way of thinking, surely not?

More later,

Lukey

Now look at my pictures!!

Dear Diary,

After my fall on the 8th I forgot to mention that my knee shaft/bar became really loose and was tilting , this made walking feel very dodgy and me most uneasy. Photos can be seen in that thread to illustrate where things went wrong.

So I took them apart and back together again and everythings cool. Took them to the park round the corner and had the girlfriend try them on and she's a natural! Doing yoga means she has great balance so she was fine on them! Yay.

Went shopping afterwards and because I didnt fancy my chances in a supermarket with them on it was decided to drive them in a massive trolley - had 10 items or less but it was better than carrying them around.

Re-mounted them for the way home and had a few comments. Kids do know about them cos they've seen clips on the internet via Youtube etc so they are getting into peoples heads, it'd be nice to get them OUT onto the streets and into parks.

Potentially there could be a whole community out there!
