Dear Diary,

This lunchtime I received my Powerisers in the post from eBay. These cost me £245 (apx $460). The product itself are Fly Jumpers but do look like Powerisers.

I've gone for the adult class (60kg > 80kg) as I'm a lightweight at 65kg and these are a funky red colour like  .

I'll upload some photo's later but to be fair we know what stock bock's look like. They have got the default plastic ratchets and I got a roll of binding tape/fibre, they do need beefing up no doubt but I know for sure that I'm not getting on these just yet. I've seen a set of pads for £20 on eBay (again) which I'd rather wear before mounting these.

Besides, I dont want Soulshredder's post about the Importance of Protective Gear going to waste!

Superb!

If you find any good knee pads which are comfortable and soft (not made from a hard plastic shell) let me know because I can't find anything suitable.

I hope you keep posting to your 'diary' Smiley

Well the pair I've seen were recommended by another on here from ridethehill.com;

I've emailed them asking how I know what size I am cos obviously a better fit will be safer. Matt are you saying these "shell" types should be avoided? I'd've thought the opposite, as in the plastic takes the knock + grazes?

EDIT: On the alternative to plastic shells;

           Gel                                       Neoprene (Compacted material, Matt?)

Sorry to the owner of the site for going off topic, but I am just interested in the softer types because they're best for dominion's knee strap mod (I think). I'll look into gel & neoprene on eBay.

These are my knee pads... They are a cross between a soft and hard shell.  They are very flexible, and do not hurt your legs or knees, and they have a semi-hard insert in them.  They have saved me in several falls so far!

Just having padding at all, helps with my knee strap mod, Matt!! The idea is to take the pressure off of your knee, when you really torque down on the strap.

Oh right, I'm just trying to
a) Find somewhere in the UK that sells them,
b) Find your mod that Matt's mentioned so I can see why shells are a bad idea

Shells are not necessarily a bad idea, just having something somewhat more flexible, and softer is a good idea.

Six Six One will ship international, i do believe!

these are the ones i have:

http://www.sixsixone.com/catalog.aspx?id=a37699af-ed56-49ee-aa53-a91dea098efd&pl=SNO

they are a hard shell and very comfortable, there is alot of padding between the top part of my shin and the knee guard and havent noticed any discomfort

these are different from Dom's but after wearing sixsixone gear i have found it is very good equipment.  Smiley

How do you determine your size? Large, Medium & Small?

Dear Dairy,

Today I took out a "Prevention of Accidental Damage to Self" policy today (aka Pads) from ridethehill.com (UK Based), the owner Liz was very helpful and kept tight communications by email and phone and advised I should go for Medium!

They look like this and should be with me tomorrow in time for the weekend, yay. I went for the more expensive tripack as for the sake of a £5er ($9 US) its worth the upgrade. Plus they're in black which looks cooler!

I've also got a possible trampoline session but need to call back and see what they can arrange, would be gnarly if they can accomodate us!

Dear Diary,

I got my pads 1st thing this morning from ridethehill.com! Brilliant! They fit really nicely too, esp the wrists they're well snug. Elbows are a new for me but they're fine and knees are good too. I'm glad its a matching set.

I've not gone for a helmet though which I might concider later but this weekend should be most interesting. Had an idea suggested to for a mod by a colleague at work, I've offered it up to here. Still trying to work out a few bits about where my leg should sat but again I'll take that to another thread.

Yay lots.
