It's supposed to rain for the next 4 days here... so needless to say, I'm going a little stir crazy.

Here's what I just did this morning, to my Fly Jumpers.

To preface, i had the original stock straps left over from when i replaced them, with heavier duty ones off of a snowboard, so that is where this new strap is coming from.

The strap sits comfortably behind your the calf of your leg, and provides some serious torque-down to your leg.

I tried them on, and they feel REALLY secure.

first, i applied friction tape to my entire padding, then i zip tied four vertical ties, and then threaded two horizonal ones through the four.

I used two more zip ties through each strap hole, and then back through the left two zip ties.

I then used two more zip ties through each strap hole on the other side, and then back through the right two zip ties.

I secured the straps to knee padding with 10 zip ties, total.

To finish, i clipped all the ties, and taped over them, to prevent rubbing, and unsightly zip ties.

I've tried these on, and they feel comfortable and secure.  I'm not sure wether i'll still use the strapping or not that i got in conjunction with the new knee strap i just added.

I can't test it out yet though, so be forewarned.

Superb idea. That velcro strap simply isn't enough, it doesn't get very tight, and it is not exactly comfy.
Let me know how it goes once it has stopped raining or you've found an indoor location, as I'm considering doing what you did and getting a snowboard shop to upgrade the clips, leaving me with the old clips to do what you have done.
It's one step closer to a modification to create a completely new alternative to the knee bar+velcro.

i used 1/8th inch zip ties.  They only can handle about 50lbs of force each, so I doubled up on them.  I took utmost care to make sure that they were secure.

I only did up one of them so-far.  When i do the 2nd one, i'll take lots of pictures.

Well, I did order knee/shin pads from a BMX site, a few days ago....  And that'll make my knees feel a little better, and also reduce the risk of impact...

But, the idea behind my strap assembly mod, is to provide a more secure way to keep my powerisers tight to my leg.  I'll give you a better review, when i test them this afternoon, when i get out of work.  it isnt raining now, so i'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

I find that to constantly have to re-tie my strap back on, i waste time that I could be bouncing!

well, as promised...
here's the rest of my "tutorial"

fake edit: (there's no index bill, so shoot me :p)

If anybody needs more clarification than those pictures, i don't know what to tell you... but i'll attempt to if you make a post with a question or five.

Btw, I tested them successfully today.  I didn't need to use a strap to tie my leg to the bar, with this knee loop mod.

They feel very secure, and hold tightly to my legs.  They do, however put a lot more pressure onto your shins.  Unless you have a high pain tolerance, or a nice pair of knee/shin pads... i don't reccomend that you try this modification.  The way i mounted the strap applies a lot more pressure to your shins than is possible with a simple tie strap.

Over time, you start to feel the extra tape apply an uneven pressure directly to the front of your shin.  My knee pads arrive on thursday.  We'll see if that makes a major improvement in the distribution of pressure.  I'm 99.9% sure it will.

More updates soon.

Feedback please.

I forgot to mention:  The black friction tape does however leave nice markings on your lovely lighter colored pants.  Please make a note of this, and don't say I didnt warn you.

I haven't tried washing these pants yet, so i don't know if it'll come out.

Thanks Matt.  I'll pull together a tutorial page for the PowerBockResources.com website.  One thing I would suggest is to tighten the zip ties that go around the loop padding to the point where they sink down and recess into the padding just enough so you don't feel them.  You would just have to slip the cross ties under them and into position before cranking them down.

EXCELLENT MOD!!!!

Bill C.

I didn't mention that step, because A) they are on grip tape, and B) I did torque them down a little further before taping with a pair of pliers.

want me to auto generate a page, like i did for the manual?  That way you don't have to code it?

Thanks for the tutorial dominion.
This weekend I will be doing something similar with my Powerisers, so I'll take some photos too.
I will get new buckles, and use the new buckles in a similar arrangement. I'll make tyre socks too.

Hey Everyone! Paul here. Hi Dominion. Love the photos and tutorial! I receieved my powerisers about 3 weeks ago and they are really great, however after about 4 times using them the knee brackets started to fray and come apart. I was wondering where i could get a strap similar to the one you use in your picture? I have tried ebay but i can't get anything. Any help is really appreciated!! thanks

If you look at the spare parts listings, all that those straps are, are the stock straps off of your foot bindings.

I replaced mine with a set off of a snowboard, and had that set as a spare.

So, check out one of the parts references to find spare straps.
