hi,

great idea. First, I have not read all the posts but anyway two comments:

My friend knows two guys who walked from Austria to Greece on bouncing stilts. Maybe they can share some experience with you since walking on bouncing stilts (with fibreglas springs) different from common stilts. Especially they can talk about durability, which is in my opinion the key question, wich spare parts you need, which parts tend to break, how long the rubber holds etc.. Also they might be able to tell you wher you might risk wounds etc.

One serious advice: I saw some comments about which stilt brand you might use. Only take the best equipment, with best frame and best joints  (Powerskip, 7s or maybe latest Poweriser version)!!! I personnaly would not go for any other brand. I bet you will have massive technical problems. Especially do not even consider to use the Upwing unless you get a version which is totally redesigned (which does not exist to my knowledge). The current version has serious design weaknesses concerning long time durability and the calf cuffs are crap. I have a pair of Upwings and they are not suitable for a long long distance walk (in my humble opinion). But of course the weight would be perfect for your plans.

good luck

That's true what Martin said the distance you'll be doing means your hoofs would need replacing about once a day !?
You'd be a real expert in quicking changing hoofs when you've finished Smiley

I don't think that's accurate, we sell Pro-Jumps which would be the same as Fly Jumpers, and the walk will be do able on these stilts, even more so if he is given a pair of V5/V6 ones (see charts for more details on stilt versions). I wouldn

I think you're going to need Powerskip Pros with some comfy shoes bolted on.  It's a long way to go, and they're pretty light, the parts last a long time, and they have the rotating footplate.  Powerskip Pro + calf cuffs + tough tire socks (or just bring some extra hooves).  Upwings would be the best if their cuffs were more comfortable, because they are lighter around the hoof (which is the most important because of leverage).  But upwings are untested for durability.

I have found that tire socks from high-pressure tires are stronger.  They have more cloth fibers running through them, which amplifies the toughness factor, and I think the rubber is usually of higher quality.  My tire socks are from tires made for about 65-85 psi (5 atmospheres, which is 500 kPa, right?) with fairly thin tread.  Surprisingly, the thin tread gets much more traction on pavement than mountain bike tires.  I switched to mountain bike tires for one day, slipped on my first running jump, and went back.  It's because more rubber is touching the pavement.  I don't know if their increased toughness outweighs their thickness, so I don't know if they'll last you longer than thicker tires, but it might be worth considering.  When I find my camera, I'll put up a picture of them, because there's also a kinda cool mod involving the bolts on top of the hoof.

That picture's from the special Olympics.  I think he has Downs Syndrome, which explains the face and awkward gait.

My box looks just as bad or worse. It was open when i got mine, i was kinda pissed.
But yea, your right to suspect foul play if you ask me, or they could have fallen out. who knows.

theres a few thing i forgot to say ok i start

1.when i went to go pick up the box the lady who ran the UPS place here in town would not let me in her office

2.demandid i left the box there and come back for it monday

3.she keep figiting like she was covering something up (hummmmm)

(im not saying it was her nessisaraly)

4. the box yes has convaor belt marks on it but..............that only indicats one thing .....the fact that they where in ther for a while befor they "fell out"

5. when you look at the box up close you can see markings that indicate something beig forced out

6 nothing was left in the box what so ever..........not even one thing all gone ...........yeah not even the instructions ..........nothing .

7.when i demanded i talked to the ladies manager she reply's "ummm not im not going to let you do that" (hummmm piculer)

8............lol .........they have 8 day's to find it befor it gets sent to another warehouse after it gose to the warehouse if not clamed in 30 day's (as if i'm going to drive to texas to get it ) they will be auctioned off

now .............there are a few thing i havent go to mention yet ........see the flyingjumper.com people put a carbon fiber spring on it along with a few new thing also they are pro's so..........hummmm...............i don't know .........i think something is wrong with the logic of this ..........but wish me luck on finding my stilts ..........lost to the world of the mailing industry. . . . . . . . . .............

oh and im going to try and put up a video on youtube tommoro about what is going to with all this

any way .............what do you think HuhHuhHuh

think u better check what insurance coverage u have from flying jumper, and from UPS etc.

Also use the tracking number to trace back every step to see if there are any special notes attached or anything odd along the way.

from the looks of it it was shipped in the flying jumper box right? Is that not a shipping label on it? Looks like it was NOT shipped as a brown shipping box with the flying jumper box inside of it right?

HUGEEEEEEE mistake on who ever shipped it to you. That box is worthless for shipping.  Unless there is additional STRONG extra shipping tape applied. With tape box would still get crushed and possibly damage material inside but it would be less liable to come apart enough for things to come out.  Your photos dont seem to show any additional tape.

Without shipping tape there is way too little holding it together. The fold and slip in slot boxes never hold up to shipping. The thickness of the cardboard and construction of its slip together can not hold up to shipping where things get stacked etc..  It is a "display box". Nothing more than a means of displaying PR material about the product.  It's not a shipping box. So what happens is as it begins to fall apart it INVITES theft... when things stick out a little it raises intrest... opens opportunities for excuses to be made... "seeeeee man.. it just felll out at my feet....and into the trunk of my car.... instructions and alllll... and my kid just loves things like theas... "

Mine were shipped display box in a thicker coregated shipping box. They are Sky Runners.

I would hit the seller HARD on this fact cause THEY SCREWED UP and shipped in a box not up to snuff.

Did you buy these or did they donate for the cause?
