Great ET

Hope you will get matts there so you can go on your flips, anyhow fore sure you have lots of other things to learn then flips.

I think it can be as fun looking at someone jumping really smooth as someone doin a flip.

Good luck

I am also very close to securing a sports hall to practice in, after being turned down by my P.E teacher about use when they have it available i decided to email the sports center who have control after school hours.

The email i sent out:
Quote
Hello,
I'm currently own a pair of powerisers (see attached image), and i was
wondering would it be possible for me to hire out a badminton court
sized space in an evening and practice inside with a few crash mats for
extra safety and i will also be wearing full pads, wrist, knee, elbow
and a helmet, this means if i slip no damage will be done.

I look forward to a response.

Thank you
Richard Grundy

and the reply i got was:

Richard

Yes I dont see a problem with you bookibg a court. However it may be advised that you need your own insurance. We have cover in the building but I am not sure if it covers the use of these powerisers. You will need to book and pay for this in advance so that we can prepare the area and consider set up times.

Thanks

Tristan Cooper - Centre Manager

Anyone understand what he means about "However it may be advised that you need your own insurance" Huh

But its looking hopeful, will probably go have a chat with him soon about when i would like to use the hall.

It basically means if you fell and damged ur back and became paralysed, you couldnt sue them (actually you could, but they would go bankrupt if they dont have insurance to pay for your damages. Signing a waiver form is acceptable to most places, though they actually mean bugger all in the legal world)

yeah you might want to ask him to clarify if he means insurance in case you damage the building or floor but I'm pretty sure he's talking about personal liability insurance (not public liability as thats if ur performing in public).

I know the leisure centres in cardiff are happy with a waiver form so if I break jonos leg then he just has to deal with it Smiley

Ok, another update on my progress with the sports centre.

Email i wrote:

Hello again,

Sorry i didn't reply sooner but I've been very busy with work.
How much would it cost to hire it out for an hour?
And how would i go about making a booking?

Thanks a lot
Richard Grundy

He replied

Richard

The cost per hour per quarter court would be £5.85 up until the end of March and then it is rising to £6 per hour from April 1st.

You can book by calling our reception on 01935 814011. You will need to explain that you have contacted me and that I have said this is ok. Also you must also accept that you may need your own insurance to cover any potential injuries.

I would also like some assurance that these powerisers will not mark the surface.

Many Thanks

Tristan Cooper - Centre Manager

So thats all good, £6 per hour isn't bad at all !

The only problem i forsee is

With the tyre sock on it leaves small marks on the sports hall floor, does anyone know if the rubber pad does?
The only other alternative i had is to aquire a white tyre which wouldn't mark the floor.

Any ideas?

I've used mine on the basketball courts at school with tyresocks on and I didn't leave a mark at all, the only time I could see it happening is a really bad slide that sends you skidding across the floor. Which hopefully won't happen.
I would suspect the gummy feet will not leave marks, due to the fact they are fairly soft and are not really "coloured"

alot of gyms  dont like trainers with dark/black soles as this is reccon'd to run the risk of leaving 'skid marks'. They prefer yellow style trainer soles.  So at worst may need to remove sox , replace sox with a coloured -ie yellow/white tyre or fit trainers like me Shocked)

If you take a look at my latest training video you will see in the leisure centre we had some rolled up carpety stuff that the leisure centre provided. From what I can tell they roll it down on the floor acroos the goal posts so whena  goalie dives he's not diving onto a hard surface. They had loads of this in the pads area.

The rubber sole does not mark but I noticed recently that in a situation where it doesn not mark at all....it DOES seem to leave big black footprints when landing a flip. I guess its to do with the friction and movement of the hoof etc so just be careful about that.

If anyone is interested I have found personal injury insurance specifically for powerisers which is about £100 per year, per person.
